So, I finally got around to assembling some meltagun guardsmen. I used standard cadian models with the metal melta guns GW sells. It's a bit of a pain having to cut and saw and fit, but with a little patience it all comes together well enough. Only thing I don't like is these are probably the most fragile models I have. From a height of about 3 ft they have a 100% chance so far to break into 5 separate pieces. As I was finishing up and washing them, I accidentally dropped one and nearly cried. Such a pain. In the future I'm def gonna look into pinning.

The figs look great, but they aren't finished. Rule #2 for P&M Showcase: models must be based. Good work so far, though!

Looks an interesting colour scheme, the metal armour looks like it's done well. Any chance of a close up of one of your guys, it's hard to see from that photo?

They're Cool, I like the far right one the best, I might have to steal that pose. Are they Catachan legs by any chance?

Oh, forgot all about that. Yeah, I had some catachan legs floating around that I thought looked a ton better than the cadian poses. Problem is catachan legs have belts, and so do cadian bodies. I sawed off the catachan belts, but kept the belt pouches on. Worked out pretty well.

Regarding the basing, I wasn't sure before I posted but I went with it anyways. I hate basing on basic troops, having a desert base on a ice map or vice versa always just bugged me. The commanders and stuff can be standing on stone platforms surrounded by lava and all that and that's cool, but yeah basic troops...I run blob spam, and my attempts at basing have been terrible.

I admit, I was just ecstatic to finally get them painted, but you're right. Those slots need fillin'

@Deadric - I'll try to get a closer shot for you. They aren't master work pieces. As for the scheme, yeah, the original idea was that these IG are just prison staff on a red planet, blah blah blah, and I just like the color red so I try to incorporate it into my figs when I can. The mechrite and chainmail look turned out decent, could have been worse, and no one has ever complained about the colors, at least not yet.
