Unfortunately, I believe it is the less-useful pick-a-unit-and-see-what-happens.

Don't you dare put Monoliths in the same category as Szeras & Flayed Ones!

He isn't "bad", he is a very situational character that is overcosted. Make him 15-20 pts cheaper and he is a very viable pick again.

I'm still not sold on Monoliths being useless. but i think they have fallen into the "Use for Apoc games" category.

They certainy aren't useless, they are simply far inferior to the Doomscythe and the AB. GW intended to make the Monolith a monolith by heavily nerfing it. Reducing the points cost did nothing good as it now is far, far, FAR worse than before. The current monolith should not be more expensive than 160 or 175 points. Still, I would not get it. It simply does not work with most lists and overall, is a mediocre choice in a good codex.

Its annoying as i have two of the things.

I can see they are still useful for deepstriking in and improving unit mobility/blocking LOS etc. But their offensive powers have been nerfed dramtatically (the whip used to be S9 and AP1 under the dot)

And losing the anti-melta effcet(while marines gain it here, there and everywhere) was a bit harsh.

Seems silly complaining abotu it when we have the rest of a great codex to play with but hey ho.

You could just change him to always give +1T then

I wouldn't. Putting Znadrekh on the CCB disallows his use of Counter Tactics.

He is saying have Zahndrehk and a Warscythe CCB Overlord in the same list. That way he can give FC to the CCB. I actually have a list with these two units. It also allows giving the CCB stealth for a flat out 3+ save.

I am still a fan of unlocking two courts and this is a decent combo to do so.

That's some ridiculous amount of points you spend on a below-average unit then.
