basically, I have read that Eldar have left some of their people scattered on known tomb worlds to watch over them and prevent them from re-emerging. I want to know is this true? if so is this story feasible (I am collecting Eldar at Christmas, because of this I haven't read their codex either so forgive me for any silly questions or any thing that I badly mess up.)

Basically they are situated on the tomb world which they severely sabotaged, because of this the surviving Necrons wake up in irregular numbers and at different times, this could range from 50 to a few thousand (although that amount only happened once). The Inquisition were drawn to the planet because of Eldar activity; The Farseer (name to be decided) told them “leave this place, Mon Keigh; for under its surface harbours the utter annihilation of your species. We stand vigilant and defiant against these relentless murderers, your actions here will only hinder our progress. We say again. Move on! ” These Eldar believe although the Humans are inferior in almost every way, they are the rulers of the galaxy and are the only ones capable of defeating The Necrons.

The Inquisition, in their arrogance and ignorance saw a prime opportunity and colonised the planet in order to study the sleeping Necrons. Years later thousands of Necrons woke up and it took the joint effort of the Imperial guard (mainly PDF) and the Eldar to defeat them. The Inquisition retreated when the Necrons awoke only to come back years later to kill any survivors because they 'knew too much').

I would appreciate the help and if anyone is interested i'll post the complete fluff for the planet and my Guard and Eldar armies.

I think you're good up to the point that the inquisition purges the survivors for "knowing too much". I may be wrong but the only purges I've seen were related to daemons and/or grey knights.

Knowing aliens exist is okay and is pretty common.

Knowing that some evil awaits to eat your soul after death can lead to empowering such creatures through belief in them which is a big no-no.

Knowing that a special chapter of marines exist whose armor is grey, gets you a mind wipe if you are an astartes, dead if a regular human and a war with the inquisition if you are a space puppy.

Just to clear things up a little, the PDF fight the Eldar, that is their main enemy apart from pirates and whatever else attacks a planet, that bit is obviously fine. the Necron thing is a secret to the standard citizens as the it would cause distress if there was an entire army under your feet that can't die easily, also seeing as the planet is a mining world it wouldn't be good news for people to know what they risk finding underground. The official reason for the purging was the Eldar killed most of the colonists and the survivors abandoned the Emperor and sided with the Eldar. The truth is obviously different. The new colonists (My Guard army) were told the Eldar wiped out the original colonists and because of this they now hate them and want nothing more than their death which is ironic seeing as these Eldar are fighting for humanity's survival.
Is this expanded version still a bit dodgy or does it make feasible sense now?

I can't see the inquisition studying sleeping necrons. AdMech maybe, but for either it is close to heresy. I think it would be more of a lets get the AdMech here so they can tell us how to destroy this planet, or the SM here to clear out the infestation

I would think it would be a bit more realistic if the Ordos Xenos came across the Eldar and brought in some IG or Marines to kick them off the planet. The Eldar leave with a warning about the sleepers. Inquisition leaves, knowing that crons are on the planet and tells the Mechanicus about it.

Mechanicus sends an explorator group to investigate. Some crons wake up, wipe them out, and nobody pays attention. This seems to happen with some regularity: explorator fleet goes missing, no one investigates.

Eventually the Imperium forgets about the issue and colonizes. Cron's wake up at an inopportune time. Still in batches as you've described due to the previous things the Eldar did.

Planetary governor sends out a distress call which is answered by a nearby IG regiment . Eldar come out of hiding (they never really left) to fight the foe. IG shows up and starting shooting at Eldar and Cron alike. This whole thing could have taken 1,000 years to get to this point.

Regardless, the Inquisition would still not kill the survivors. I have seen the Inquisition purge humans that actually fought alongside a Xenos race, but it's not the entire population, just those actively pulling triggers. Even then they tend to leave the worker bees alone as being "mostly harmless". In "For the Emperor" an IG regiment is brought in after the governor has been dealing with the Tau. The Inquisition Ordos Xenos is present and, due to extraneous circumstances, orders the IG regiment to leave the Tau alone. IG and Tau team up to fight the PDF (infested by genestealers) and once done, the Tau leave, the IG stays behind. Although the population was half pro Tau, they are pretty much left alone while the IG search for and purge the genestealer infestation.

Dead Men Walking (IG vs Necrons).
Necrons pop up from the ground while an IG taskforce is near. Doesn't go well for the IG. POV entirely from civilian and IG perspective. Interesting in that the only real thing we see from the Necron perspective is them waking up and telling the humans to leave. Then the shooting starts.

SoB return to avenge a world lost to the Crons. Inquisition and Mechanicus somewhat involved. Has a few things from the cron perspective with the latest codex revisioning.

For the Emperor (Inquisition / IG / Tau / PDF / Tyranids)
The book is dated (2003?) and genestealer cults are no longer part of the Nid culture. However, the main thing is in how the Inquisition dealt with the situation and had the IG and Tau working together. I could see them doing the same thing for the Eldar and IG against Necrons.

An Inquisitor befriends the Eldar and gains access to the Black Library...They work somewhat together to stop Ahriman.

I think Ordo Xenos wouldn't mind capturing a live Necron. Though how I'm quite uncertain of how it would be done. But they have managed to capture Tyranids before.

As for the Eldar an humans fighting together. Change your wording a tad. They basically regards us as we regard chimps. And that's the nicer ones. I guess a radical member of Ordo Xenos would ally with them, but such alliances is short-lived at best, and rarely creates a report due to the Eldar's arrogance and the human's lack of intelligence compared to the Eldar.

You can steal a page from Ciaphas Cain, and have the humans digging up a Necron Temple unleashing hell. That was fun. Unwitting humans stumble across some alien monstrosity is a stable for any respected sci-fi-writer, or so it seems.

If you have nothing nice to say then say frakking nothing.

There was a story about how a necron warrior was captured. Basically its phase out parts had been completely burned out and it wasn't able to leave the battlefield. Can't remember where I read that though. Might be in the necron codex as it was just a small story.

Well, yeah, but killing people to cover their tracks is also pretty commonplace. In one short story in Hammer and Bolter, a deathwatch team capture a Trygon, under orders from an Inquisitor. The Trygon had been captured and sealed in a sarcophagus by Exodite Eldar, who lacked the means to kill it. The Inquisitor had learned of this, and convinced the Admech to assist in the excavation. The beast was killed during the attempt, but it's carcass delivered nonetheless. After the whole episode, the Inquisitor ordered the Admech team killed, and the entire installation destroyed, to hide any evidence of this having occurred. Life is cheap in the Imperium, and better safe than sorry, I guess.

I can definitely see the Inquisition using exterminatus on a lightly populated world that was previously used as a research station for studying Necrons. I mean, if nothing else it's still a Necron Tomb world.

"Did you ever notice how in the Bible, when ever God needed to punish someone, or make an example, or whenever God needed a killing, he sent an angel? Did you ever wonder what a creature like that must be like? A whole existence spent praising your God, but always with one wing dipped in blood. Would you ever really want to see an angel?"

I've read that story actually, I thought it was rather good anyway that is my thinking as well, humans are almost endless so if it makes for a simple and less risky option why not kill them re-colonise and start again. To me it makes sense, should I change it from the Inquisition to the ordo-xenos? seeing as the Inquisition is more Daemons and Chaos rather than Eldar and Necrons. Does the ordo-xenos even kill humans in the same way as the inquistion? (to clear things up when I say purge I don't mean exterminatus, I mean just plain kill.)

working on the assumption you want to keep the world and populace out of an exterminatus:

Cool story but i got to go with everyone else in the "inquisition doesnt needlessly kill" topic. only remotely possible explanation is if they took up arms on the side of the necrons, which would only end up in the necrons not getting double wammied (i dont recall if this happened in dead men walking it was a while ago i read it but a great story none the less). The inquisiton is like the normal old black and white imperium, they do see shades of grey. Heck there are even semi rogue inquisitors who go about, doing whatever to get stuff done. so honestly unless it is one of those ultra uptight stick in the inquisitors, population would be a-ok. and even then you may not get blasted.

a counter idea you may want to look into if you want like death squads roaming the planet would be hidden necrons dressed up as humans (like infiltrator units) walking amongst the populace. i dont know much about the necrons so someone else will have to debug this idea but its at least a starting point. good luck man

I could see it. Keep in mind that the Inquisition is, by and large, a collection of Inquisitors, and each Inquisitor is essentially a rogue agent with no supervision that's free to fight the enemy by whatever means deemed best. An Inquisitor from the Ordo Xenos would definitely want to figure out how Necrons worked so he could better destroy them.

Well, it's stated that the only Xenos race the Imperium has ever allied with is the Tau, when Hive Fleet Behemoth attacked. Even that didn't last long, the friendship lasted as long as the last Hormagant.
