While the bulk of my armies are some hodgepoge of painted/grey scale mayhem, we proudly bring you all a painted army for once vs another painted army on a mostly painted board even.

Here's the lists:

Dark Angel + SM

Belial on foot with his thunder hammer/stormshield (warlord)
Deathwing terminators x5 w/ cyclone launcher with 4x power fists and storm bolters
Deathwing terminators x5 w/ cyclone launcher and thunder hammers and storm shields
Deathwing terminators x5 w/ cyclone launcher anx 4x power fists and storm bolters

Ravenwing attack squad x3 bikes with teleport homer, flamer, plasma gun
Ravening attack squad x3 bikes with teleport homer, flamer, plasma gun

Chaplin Cassius (First time I've fought against him, he's a beast with T6 and 3+/4++ and FnP at only 125 points (also Str 6 with his maul). He's damn amazing.)
Tac squad x5 with just bolters and a combi-melta
Storm Talon with assault cannons and las cannons

VS the foul xenos:

Mechboy with combi scorcha and KFF (warlord)
Wierdboy (not warphead)

30 Shoota boys (no nob, no PK, no boss pole)
30 Shoota boys (same as above)
30 Shoota boys (same as above)
12 gretchen with a runt herder

8 Lootas
8 Lootas (while I could use mek's with big shootas I was too lazy to try and roll things seperately so just left them all with deffguns)

3 Buggies with just their twin linked big shootas. (left them as a squadron but I guess I could have split them up)

3 Killa Kans with grotzookas
3 Killa Kans with Rockets
3 Killa Kans with Rockets

Game #1 - The scouring (fast attacks are scoring)
Dawn of war deployment

Initiative Orks
Marines failed to seize

Warlord traits - orks got counter attack in deployment zone I think but it really didn't matter
Deathwing + SM - something not that useful either and also didn't matter to the game at large

Deployment:

Spoiler:
Orks line up on the entire left side of the board, the lootas are in the ruins in the corner, grotz on an objective in the circular building, Kans and KFF mech in middle of the field with some more boys and buggies on their flanks. Soooo many bodies.....

Other objectives are the servo markers 12' apart in the "forest" green patch. That's 2 squads of lootas in the ruins, one top floor, one bottom floor

Ravenwing deploys all 6 bikes and the tac squad on the direct opposite end of the map to stay the heck out of the 48' loota range. They have an objective at the back off the house. The 5 man tac squad with Chaplin Cassius is standing next to it.

Overview of deployment. There is another 2 objecives on the SM side of things. One in the far right ruins and one in the half circle mound in the middle next to the river.

Another shot of the SM deployment after scout moves. The rest of the ravenwing is in reserves.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
List Breakdowns:

Deathwing - Lots of terminator armor and fair shooting but will need to get through alot of bodies. Chaplin cassisus will be a tough nut for the orks to beat through. Gotta avoid CC'ing the Kans but otherwise the orks list lack any real AP 2 or 3 weapons other than the 6 rockets that the kans are sporting. Lack nobs, there's no real hidden danger of power klaws so will try to get into combat with the orks and rock their faces. Shoot the kans, smash the boys and or cyclone missle them. T5 bikes will also be tough for orks to kill especially if they don't get furious charge. Gotta get the charge on them. He's also only got 4 units of troops with 5 total scoring and I've got 7 scoring units that are pretty tough so it will be good for getting these objectives.

Orks - What we lack in AP2 fire, we'll make up for with volume of fire. got some 90 shoota boyz that makes some 180 shots a turn if I can get them in range of stuff. The long wise deployment is probably gonna bite me in the backside as it looks like the SM will be trying to roll up one side of the board. Gotta keep some kans on the left though in case they deep strike some terminators, gotta protect the lootas. Hopefully the werid boy will do something useful but there's no guessing what will happen here. While the boys got numbers, that many terminators will still be hard to whipe out as I really have little to nothing that can break their save. Let's hope for some 1's! At least the TDA's can't run me down in case I do lose alot of boys.

ORK TURN 1

Spoiler:
Everyone shuffle forwards with the left side kans trying to run. The objectives on the ork side turned out to be worth 3 points(far north one), 4 points (at the southern end of the forest) and 1 point (the one next to the grots) They also happened to be in a forest that stopped grenades. The river just smelled funny apparently but was harmless. The objectives were also unfortunately from the north side to south, normal, sabotaged, and sabotaged. Orks use their running phase to get away from the bombs. Minimal casualties from the blasts. You see a ring shape of orks around that middle objective since premeasuring rocks

I think I completely forgot the buggies or moved them back as I probably didn't want to give up first blood and a scoring unit so easily to a bunch of bikes with good guns.

The wierdboy also was nice enough to pass his psychic test and get a 1, blast markering himself for a wound and killing like 1 other boy lol.

Nothing else in range so next turn.

SM turn 1

Spoiler:
Terminators arrive via teleport homers from the bikes in formation to hopefully roll up the ork southern flank.

Marines move behind LOS and find out that their objective was worth 2 points but otherwise offered no useful or harmful suprises. The chap in the blue cape there despite the dark angel sword painted on his back is the good chaplin.

Bikes move up and start to shoot at the grots.

who lose 4 but make their morale on a 6 lol

Cyclone missle launchers take out one of the kans.

ORK turn 2

Spoiler:
Starts with a bang! The wierdboy gets a 5 "ere' we go!" which means him and 29 other boys land in a heap lol and with a bit of scatter, close enough to threaten the SM objective all the way from the other side of the map. Veiltek eat your heart out lol. All the rest of the ungainly ork army shuffles fowards towards to terminators. The grots run off and hide behind LOS of the building completely abandoning the 1 point objective.

As it takes literally forever to move all the models I just kind of shuffle them around. Lootas are out of range so just run forwards a bit. Also why there are fewer ork pictures since I'm the cameraman too

Shooting has the rocket kans kill a bike via Ap3 goodness. The deep striking ork horde unloads some 40 shots (guys at the back due to deep strike were out of range) at the marines and gun down 3!

No assaults possible so on we go.

SM turn 2

Spoiler:
Deathwing terminators move forwards to get better shots at the kans and take out one of them with help of the newly arrived storm talon. The dead can just happened to be outside of KFF range. Curse the new model rules! Still, that one kan did suck up 2 cyclone missle launchers and some lascannons to die. Go go AV11!

The souther bikes start the swing north and blow up 1 buggy and put a hull point on the other buggy. AV 10 glances from bolters 4tw lol.

The chaplin moves up along with the surviving 2 squad members and apparently has a flamer I didn't know about lol.
The depleted bikes also come around the terrain to thin down the boys too.

After the flames and plasma and bolters, I lose some 10 or 12 boys I think.

On the assault, the orks manage to overwatch down a bike and the wierdboy challenges the good chaplin to suck up some wounds. The chaplin accepts and I think you guys can guess the outcome of that fight lol.

The surviving orks remain locked in with the bike and the surviving marines. I think I lose like 2-3 to combat but still fearless. Marines make their armor and the T5 biker is extremely hard to kill for str 3 boyz. Wierdboy is a grease mark of course

Ork turn 3

Spoiler:
More shuffling forwards. Lootas move out of the building a bit more. Forgot to run them last turn. The 30 boyz just sit on the 3 point objective. Grots get lousy movement rolls and barely clear the building. The big mek with KFF and 30 more boyz go confront the terminators.

Shooting wise, everything bounced off the terminators. I think I forced some 6-8 saves but they made them all. bleh. Assault combat was kind of wierd. The surviving boys and marines basically all wiffed and nothing really happened. I think I lose like 1-2 boyz. Still fearless so didn't bother taking pictures.

SM turn 3

Spoiler:
Storm talon moves up and frags one kan with lascannons and assault cannons. ( the kans are much more forwards in this picture because they had really good run moves and the orks moved up in the movement phase. The previous pic didn't get them moving just yet.

The southern bikes lost one to the surviving buggy last turn but managed to kill the rest of the buggies. The last squad of terminators arrive and again used the beacon from the surviving bikes to land kind of close to the action but didn't want to necessarily get charged by things. In retrospect, he should have put them more forwards I'm thinking.

The cyclone missles all shoot at the Kan in front of the wall of boys and amazingly enough the kan makes all the 5+ cover saves

The chaplin ork combat finally has some results. Boyz manage to kill the biker finally and actually killed off the 2 sergeants but did lose about 3 from combat. The chaplin took out 4 by himself and the boys actually fall below 10 men. They promptly fail morale and the chaplin sweeps them all and consolidates back towards the objective.

Another view of the ork forces at the end of the SM turn.

Ork turn 4
Spoiler:

Not sure where the pictures went for that turn but in short, move kans moving up the sides. Rocket kans behind as well as orks shoot at the terminators forcing more wounds but again they make every single 2+ save. Grotzookas unload but only hit with 2 markers and again the terminators make all their saves. The lootas shoot at the storm talon but roll terribly and basically lock velocity and made it evade. The grots got moved up to screen for the kan against terminators in case of charge.

This pic is from the SM turn 4 when the storm talon had to move forwards and you see the terminators at the corner getting close to the big mob.

At this point SM have no objectives but has first blood and killed the buggies for 2 victory points. The orks killed one squad of bikes and has one objective for total of 4 points.

SM turn 4

Spoiler:
Bikes make a dash for their objective hoping to get there next turn. while terminators close in on the ork warlord.
Frag missles I think take out 6 boys.

Bikes flat out to hopefully cap their objective again.

The chaplin continues to hide behind the house figuring that the kans will want some shots at him.

The storm talon despite snap firing does still have twin linked and gun down 1 loota. The buildings in the back were disappeared as someone else started another game and had to borrow some terrain.

Marines declare a charge but fail to reach the ork lines. Overwatch fails to do anything at all either. them 2+ armor is on fire today!

Ork Turn 5.

Spoiler:
Half the boyz in the open make it into the circular ruins and managed to get some amazing shooting between the grot cannons, rockets and whatever else the boyz can toss at the terminators. Amazingly enough they score some 8 wounds on the terminators with TH hammers and storm shields and here the dice does their funny dance. My opponent manages to roll 5 's despite not failing a single wound up to now. The orks actually killed off their target for once! We were all kind in shock/rage that I forgot to take pictures but here we go again at top of SM turn 5. There's a hole where the terminators with belial used to be.

The lootas also combined fire to bring down the storm talon and it crashes somewhere out of range of anything.

SM turn 5

Spoiler:
The far terminator group scores a weapon destroyed on the kan with a blue dice on his head. The rest of the surviving terminators move up trying to kill off the orks on the objective in the circular building to the right of the screen. There is an objective inside of there worth 2 points.

The bikes made it back to capture their 2 point objective.

Shooting wise was otherwise uneventful.

Assault was kind of a surprise for me anyway. The SM declared a multi-charge against like everything @_@. (more specifically against the kan with a blue dice on his head, against the kan in the water, and against the boys holding the objective. He was under the impression that if you lock the unit in combat, it cannot hold any objectives but I wasn't so sure of that but we played it out anyway. (I can't find a rule that said that anyway but it might be true. If it was and he pulls me off the objective, I'll have 5 points and he'll have 5 points with his objective, first blood, linebreaker, and killing some fast attack choices. If he can take down the warlord he'll be in good shape for a win.)

He rolls good through difficult and could actually get into everything!
We start moving things and then suddenly remembers I get to overwatch. The surviving boys and big mek uses the scorcha for wall of death and all their guns that can see..... and gets just 3 wounds. He makes the first, and the second, and then....
Taking the closest terminator out costs him the distance he needs to reach the boys!!!

We roll and the game actually ended. The combat between the kans and terminators would have killed both the kans and 2 terminators would go to meet the allfather.

The orks control 5 victory points of objectives along with killing two fast attack choices and getting line breaker. total of 8 points. The grots never made it back in time to grab the 4 point one and I forgot the move the boys lol.

and

The marines hold onto 2 points of objectives, got first blood, linebreaker, and killed a fast attack for total of 4 points.

8 to 4!

Victory to the Ork Hordes!!

The numbers don't lie. The Imperials just cannot do enough damage to all those ork bodies and 9 kans.

I think the lack of Mobility in this game costed me the game. I think I need to retool my list and I might stand a chance to win. Also, I need my damn missiles to blow up the Kans.

It really comes down to the wire I didn't mean to give a spoiler! But the whole game comes down the wire and it is worth waiting to the end to see what happens.

Also, the Lion name is Fluffy and counts as a Terminator with Cyclone Missile launcher. In case anyone was wondering. She is mascot of the army.

Weeee completed. I really gotta start using the other camera but this one fits in my pocket though tends to have horrible blurring. The other camera is much more pro but it's kind of big.

Can someone clear it up for us though, can a unit that is really large like a orde of ork boys be both in combat with something and still have bodies surrounding an objective to capture it?

Was actually looking for something along these lines last week.

Couldn't find anything that would stop them from scoring.

had 20 boyz piled into 3 warriors

Boyz were within 3" and the warriors were not.

Mind you, you still need to make pile in moves, etc.

Umm...That Ork list is illegal.

A Big Mek can't have a Kombi-Skorcha if he's got a KFF. Maybe you meant a Burna?

Otherwise, great battle report!

You might be able to squeeze a PK in the group you had your weirdboy attached to if you change the TL Bigshoota buggies into koptas. I dont have my codex handy so i dont know exact points but i know theyre cheaper and its debatible on which is better on the field. No matter who is charging that group, unless theres multiple characters, the PK nob would get to do his thing against that nasty toughness bike.

EDIT: Why is that list illegal? KFF is under the "May take one of the following" list, Kombi Skorcha isnt. Same reason you cant give it a bike and a KFF, which would be AWESOME

Both the KFF and the kombi-weapons are under "Replace slugga with" sections. He doesn't have 2 sluggas, so he can't take more than 1.
He can however swap his choppa for a burna (but its costs an extra 15 points over a kombi).

Good game though. Might have to dust off my orks.
