This is my second attempt at a WIP blog but his time around I motivated my self acquiring a fairly large number of models that I just can't just have lying around. I'm relativity new to modeling and haven't done anything heavy in terms of painting or converting but I'm hoping to change that with this project. Any and all advice or critique is welcomed. Pictures below of my first mocked-up units, more to follow soon.

About the Army

I always liked the look of the Armageddon Steel Legion and I've always favored tanks over infantry, but I've always liked chaos more. Then I read into the background of the First War for Armageddon and the persecution of the brave survivors of the Armageddon Steel Legion by the uncaring imperium. I figured if any did survive they might feel a bit resentful towards those who betrayed them, thus my idea for a traitor guard regiment, The Betrayed, was born. More fluff to come.

First up is my mock up for my Command Vanquisher Leman Russ.

Thoughts and problems so far:

Working with grey tac to mock things up sucks...

The only ascetically pleasing and viable bodies I found were the war games' factory shock troopers, however I want to play in a GW store so I'm trying to put enough bits on them besides the lasgun arms to make them seem converted enough.
Hard to find bits: Tracking down IG tank track guards sucks.....the new LR kits don't have them and the accessory sprue costs $14 USD. *On a side if you have any extra track guards, tow cables, Las guns with arms, or IG infantry back packs (FW too) please let me know I will pay or trade for them*

Quick update, tried to make the chimera's a bit more personalized, added some track guards, smoke launcher (not sure if the placing is correct), misc bits, though I don't want it to seem too cluttered. Also not sure where to put the chaos emblem, either on the turret or the front?

On the front to replace the aquilla; looking forward to seeing some paint on here btw

That's what I was actually leaning towards, and ill just put the vehicle numerals on the turret. As for paint I'm trying to get everything converted before I start on any paint, but its kinda hard considering how many different little parts and bits I need to track down.

Wow haven't updated this in 2 years, since my Ork blog imploded due to having to sell them off I've decided to go back to my 10,000 points of traitor guard collecting dust for the past couple of years.

Just spend a few nights assembling my Bane Blade/Hell Hammer and my Command Tank. I don't subscribe to the chaos philosophy of adding spikez everywhere and wanted to keep the spikes to a tasteful minimum.

Another quick update, more work done on the Bane Blade I've dubbed 'Steel Wrath'. Sponsons are assembled, and some more detailing done.



I've also delved in into basic Green Stuff casting using Instant Mold, Which I highly recommend. Its more than paid for itself already and its reusable!

I decided to test it out on this wonderful armor plate courtesy of Subtle Discord (seriously check out his stuff he makes awesome chaos compatible vehicle kits)



The first casts didn't come out too great, while the instant mold it self captured the detail perfectly the green stuff did not, not sure if it was how I pressed it in or if I didn't mix the right kind of ratio, nevertheless they will do for now since I can pass them off as battle damaged when properly painted.





Lastly is my work on my Chaos Tank Commander (Count as Punisher Pask)

Another quick update, Steel Wrath is pretty much done, added some more green stuff ornamentation to block out the Aquila on the sides (man I forgot how crazy GW goes with the molded iconography on all the loyalist kits). I also added a dozerblade to it, even though it doesn't have the option for one, just looks cool.





Chaos Tank Commander is pretty much done as well, added some external fuel tank lines and anti-boarding spikes in the rear.









Next up are the Executioners which still need a lot of detail work





Again instant mold is a life saver, as I don't have enough chaos plates to finish this project without casting more. After these guys are done, I'll have some wyverns to build and some chimeras to trcik out.

A lot has changed since I devised this project so time ago when I wanted to use War Games Factory Troopers. I now have decided to us primarily Cadian shock troops with pig iron helmets and Secrets of the Third Reich re breathers. The Sargents below are the gunners from the Valkyrie kit and the commander in middle is from the Baneblade kit.



Based on some basic sand and gravel, I don't usually base my mini's so this was a first for me. Next up ill decided what weapons ill be placing on them (probably going to be melta vets). I still haven't decided if I want to take the time to shave the icons off the lasguns like I did with the chests since it seems harder to do.




Inspired by this wonderful blog here http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/blog/228835.page I have decided to also ad a 40k scale leviathan to my army. I managed to score the same old tank chassis that was used for that build and I have an abundance of nos terrain kits that ill be using for this build. Ill still be focusing on my main forces first and foremost so dont expect too many updates on this bad boy for a while.

Loving the little details like the undivided star on the side of the barrel, looking great!

Another small update, I found some SM tactical pouches that seemed to look good. I really think it pulls the whole look together.

Wow, incredibly impressive. Definitely inspirational as far as the desire to add some armored vehicles to my own projects of evil and corruption. I feel you on digging a Chaos look that's more cohesive and less "spikez n' skullz."

First 2 Squads of melta vets finally done!

Mini update, since I find shaving off all the skull Aquilas tedious I've decided to incorporate it into the standard for my traitor regiment. I think for a quick ms paint job it looks decent. Now the only symbols I have to worry about removing are the standard aquilas, which there are still an abundance of :(.
