My brother wants to start playing 40k again, and has chosen the cheese i bitch about to myself all the time. He has asked me to make a list, and I'd like any tips/advice to make it any more beardy.

Aegis Defense Line - Quadgun

Right now the Lone Wolf's main thing will be manning the Quadgun and killing counter assaulting things. The other option I have in the list is dropping the Aegis line and Lone Wolf for another Grey Hunter Squad in a Rhino w/ Melta Guns. I figure the Aegis Line is better to give the Long Fangs a better cover save from which they will plink Missiles from (as well as a place to base the Rune Priests)

Like I said, trying to make it as beardy as possible for him.

To be honest this is a very boring list the only thing I see that I like is the Lone Wolf, mix it up a little.

Yes I would agree, mix it up a little. The lonewolf seems pretty interesting as well. I haven't checked the FAQ but does it stil have the rule where if your opponent kills him you get a VP but if he lives until the end of the game your opponent gets a VP?

Yes the Lone Wolf still exist.

One of my thoughts was replace some of the Long Fanges with Land Speeder Typhoons Squadrens if do at least 3 of them you lood the need for the double detatchemts.

as far as the two Rune Priest go, they need some sort of equipment Difference, if you are set on JotWW [As a Space Wolf Player I actualy Loathe JotWW, but thats another thing] take one with it and take Divination for the second.

You need some lsc or else you have little punch against big heavy vehicles.

Also a adl is a good idea more firepower and some good cover.

But ya get las and you don't have to max out long fangs. maybe take allies drop pods and or dreads or termies or wg.

JotWW is not it's all cracked up to be. I'd definitely go for at least one RP with Murderous Hurricane. It's a real pain for any opponent fielding pure CC assault troops as every assault, run or any movement as it causes them to have to roll for dangerous and difficult tests each time.

Your brother is gonna fall asleep playing this and his opponent is gonna wait in the car park and knock him out with the case full of Long Fangs.......

It is going to be horribly horribly dull to play.

Why not go for something dynamic? A Logan/Ragnar drop list is good fun to play with, hits like a ton of bricks and gives you the opportunity to be creative.

Using Logan makes wolfguard troops, so you could have squads of them drop podding in terminator armour and doing bad stuff.

Also, is 2k+ standard in your area? 'cos if it isn't and the list needs to modded down to 1750 or 1850 it'll still work, but not as consistently

thats alot of fangs, if ur intent of doing the 6 longfang missle storm of doom(what i think this should be called) park them behind the ADL give both run priest divination give one storm caller, that way ur main LF squads can be next to each other get a 3+ cover(5 for caller +2 for adl) and both squads can reroll hits(primaras power from divination) have one man an icaris las cannon(hitting on 2+ re rolling miss's) thats you're anit air, spilt fir from the fangs will let the prist target the flyer and ur LF deal with something ealse. plus if there no good flyer options to shoot with icarus then you can use it for high AV.

also if ur gonna use the lone wolf he needs to be a sucide unit, counter attacking is the same as saying here have a VP bye only shooting my LF. just seams thouse point could be better some wear ealse.

for my 2 cents if the list works for you and you dont mind making ur opiont frusterated then go for it, but i wouldent want to play you(i play mostly for fun for both people i try to avoid super super cheesey armys thou i do makes some from time to time to be honst)

ohh also, if ur hell bent on running this list then you should get a rune priest for each LF and take divination on them all IIRC the FAQ said you cna take pyshic powers from BRB without worry about the indivual thing.

I think the list fits into what you were asked to make, seems his brother didnt ask for a fun or interesting or exciting list....his brother asked for cheese which this list delivers on

Terminators can take drop pods?

Yes. Wolfguard can take pods, even with termy armor. They count as 2 models each though, so max 5 in a pod.

Wolf termies cannot teleport, so podding is the only alternative.

Huh, I did not know that, my detachment of wolves for my guard are 2 hunter units in pods with a rune priest for my blob squad so those are the only units i really know of for wolves right now, but thanks!

Yeah, when it mods down to 1500pts it'll have to be slightly more interesting. I'm envisioning 3~ Grey Hunter Squads, Long Fangs, and maybe some of the cooler space wolf toys like Thunderwolves (which seem terribly overcosted, even from my Codex: Marine hatred of Space Wolves(Grey Hunters/Long Fangs/Rune Priests, specifically).

I'll try to talk him out of the cheese, maybe replace a few Long Fang Squad with a Vindicator or two for anti-Land Raider duties.

We both loath painting/building pods, so I doubt pods are in our future (though the Loganwing sounds pretty cool). However, if he was going to do an all Terminator Army, I would suggest for him to do the new Dark Angels or Grey Knights, respectively.

Thanks guys, I'll re-look at the list for 1500, maybe post it up. (1500 is the normal around here, he just wants to run a 2000pt cheese list. I guess the other option is Vendetta/Manticore spam, so I guess I can feel lucky he went for the slightly less beardy option?)

I'm a bigger fan of pods than rhinos personally.

Also with the RP s I think the codex does say somewhere that no two models can have the same wargear or something to that effect, not sure if rule or fluff. I would throw one RP with JOWW which would be non warlord obviously in a pod with 9 GH and JOWW his warlord. You can take him out first turn with a whole mess of other troops at that as long as you dont scatter too horribly
