Does anyone actually use the new CSM Aspiring Champion model? It looks great, but with so much detail it looks more like a Chosen champion than a regular CSM Aspiring champion. IMO I think it works best as a Chaos Lord with MoK and Ax of BLind Fury.

I quite like it and will be picking it up when i need to expand my army by adding another CSM squad. as for him looking more like a chosen, that fits with my fluff and army, as i like to think my Lord tasks his chosen with overseering the rabble and ensuring they do what he tells them

that and i'm never going to field chosen in dedicated squads,as i'd rather get terminators.

Chaos already has a ton of promising champion/ lord models out there. Most are still in print. If not you can easily convert one up with the possessed sprue(not like you are acutally gonna field a unit of possessed) or other random bits.

It could have been so nice but is so lacking. It only has a combimelta, and it is on his back. His ccws look kinda silly. No lightning claw or powerfist. It is just a regular marine basically. The chosen from DV have as much or more possibilities.

He does have a power axe through, i like power axes because they give ap2 and can gain +1 attack from a pistol, plus he looks different from the axe wielder from dark vengeance, avoiding that everyone-has-the-same-pose thing that is a minor irritant to me.

Also, isn't it another one of those plastic one-fit kits? or is it finecast?

Not sure on that but man do I hate finecast

the champion is plastic, and I guess if you dont like metal or finecast(hate finecast myself) then he, DV, and kitbashing are the only show in town.
If you are a fan of axes and cant find any others then I guess knock yourself out. I prefer lightning claws and there are no options for that.
I also want to run shooty squads with a combi plasma, there is no options for that either.

I like the way it looks and use it for inspiration when doing conversions. The fact it has a melta-gun chained to it's backpack does give me some ideas.

Anyone wonder why it has a melta strapped to it's backpack? ACs can't take them.

It's a Combi-Melta.

I liked the model until I saw it's cost.

Oh what a pleasant looking model I'd like to bu-ha ha what am I looking at? $20 for a troop squad leader? Looks like I'll be using one of those chosen models I have laying around.

It looks good, just not $20 good.
