I've always thought of it as CA-dee-ya (the CA sound is short) but I know someone who pronounces it as ca-DIE-a.

What's the right way? Or, how do you pronounce it?

Yeah I always said it Kay-dee-ah like the name Katie with an "uh" sound at the end.

I've always figured it was a bastardisation of the word Arcadia.

Ditto, Cadians were always kind of the successor to the old generic guard - and the example regiments on the RT plastic guard box were the Necromundan 9th and the Arcadian 5th.

I pronounce it the same as you. KAY-dee-ah is probably the popular pronunciation though, I just dislike it.

Oh wait.

Cay-dee-ah

Cay-die-a makes more alphabetics sense, but Cay-dee-ah makes more linguistic sense.

I always thought it was from Cade, like a motorcade. So, I said Cadeia. (The tripthong being necessary)

On the other hand, Cadia is a Plant Genus. The Plant Genus is usually pronounced Cah-dee-ah, so maybe that is correct.

NB:

There's no e on the end of Cadia. That suggests that the first 'a' can't be pronounced ay.

Therefore, Cah-dee-ah is probably more correct.
