Man I've really been in the mood painting again when I should be doing school projects.
Lucky for me, painting/colour theory/sculpting is all part of my school's work! Where're those minis from, btw? They look.. Dark. Awesome.
Hiya! The bulkier dude is based on Captain Badrukk model form 40K ork range, and the skinny lad is Vampire Counts wraith with added legs. I'm not good at sculpting, so I usually end up just attaching random plastic parts over the minis, and then I call them 'conversions'

If your conversions are so subtle that people don't know what they were based off, I'd call them successful! I really like them, and together with your painting style the miniature just looks awesome. I'm glad I'm subscribed, so I can get inspiration (and maybe steal ideas, but I shouldn't tell you that )

Those absolutely count as conversions, and excellent ones at that. Even knowing what your two starting points are, and A/B-ing the original to the finished model, it's tough to see how you did it so cleanly. Especially with the "skinny lad."

I was supposed to finish a report but this next fella started to haunt me - Now he is basecoated and i'm eager to see how he turns out. I imagined him and his two helpers to be "the Paymaster", as the ogre I used for the conversion is named in GW catalog.
(Terminator is just for the scale)
There's a collection of various bits and pieces from a century old miniatures.

Looking amazing! Seriously, that is some great grimdarkness you have going on with these guys. The subdued colours and tiny details look great when all put together.
The latest... thing is also brilliant, great use of bitz, he should fit right in with the gang.

I know some people love/hate pictures of unpainted miniatures, but I'm here to get some marvelous ideas from you people. I understood that the critters on paymasters shoulders needed more reinforcements, and I dug up some old mini's to represent these little cunning jerks... And visually I get more interesting things to look at; there should be massive characters and tiny fellas to mess around, just for the visual balance!
Also I have an idea to get this mine cart in use somehow. Tee hee.
Obviously there's a ton of GS work to do, but I think you get the idea. What say you?

Aeon Blacksmith, Planet Forger
The former grandmaster of astral magic, the planetary blacksmith and the creator of subspace timezones and forbidden corners of the red planet - nowadays a poor traveler with zero income and only cheap tricks in his sleeve to entertain his travelling company (you see, for a certain reason in this particular time and place this sort of scholars of magic are relatively poor, because the amount of tricks and godly miracles depends on the insides of your wallet - don't ask me why) Still, even he's a poor chap and needs to do the sweaty work for the merchant, he's able to teleport and divide zero by two, not a big deal.
The psi-energy surrounding him is pretty massive and causes horrible migrenia to everybody. The only one who haven't been complaining about brain issues is muscle fort lurking behind the leaders - and the reason for not having deadly ache is probably he doesn't have the organ which could be hurt by the wave of psi-energy. There's a traffic light-like collection of eyes in his head, but truly the only seeing eye is his hand - this eye sees trough dimensions and time, as well as the walls of private rooms.
Allright; here's something I invented:
I painted this dress with acrylic inks and drawing inks. I made a basecoat of Daler&Rowney FW flame red acrylic ink. The awesome thing here is, that acrylic ink covers with one coat and you can make it pretty rough. Then I made another coat with Liquitex Naphtol Crimson ink. After this I got experimental...
I took my W&N orange ink which I had kept open the past weeks, and started to make a coat over the previous inks. I had a brush which had pretty hard bristles, so my brush tore off the previous inks. But because I had orange ink in my bristles, the brush stated to make 'orange damage' to the figure instead of just revealing the white basecoat. It's like drybrushing with ink + making damage to the previous paint layers... Reverse drybrushing?
The golden parts were made with W&N gold ink, which is liquid gold leaf and irritating as hell to handle and impossible to photograph.

@ Know No Pear: The left model at its core is Kaptin Badrukk from the 40k Orks range along with a plaguebearers head and small parts which I don't know of. and lots with a lot of sculpting work to make it look Nurglish. (well done looks terrific!)
And the model on the right well i'm stumped, but from my views it looks like Plaguebearers's legs somewhat adjusted, the parchments on his groin and torso seem to be from a Space Marines accessories the robes from a Vampire Counts Cairn Wraith and other small kits which i'm not sure about.
TurskanPerkeet did I get it right? Automatically Appended Next Post: Just realized there was two pages commented on the 1st haha sorry :') definitely subbed loving them a lot

Yes there will be more characters joinig the force
I have no idea where this shall be going, because stillI have no idea about the rules for the game. Seems like I'll be just building aliens until somebody forces me to read the rules book... WYSIWYG seems to be the main thing in these sort of specialist games. Oh well! Ignorance is bliss!

Phew. I know this is not supposed to be shown here because these are not the inq28-posse...
I made a full set of Space Hulk terminators and forge world scouts for a client, and I just finished the whole bunch.
I consider myself lucky. Painting blue dark eldar caused me more trouble as I expected, and painting lovely red blood angels gave me some of my motivation back. My ink testings have gone well, and I painted these BA with acrylic inks again.
I've seen that doing commissions is painful. Easier way to get into the business would be just to paint whatever you like and put it to eBay. There would be no rules at all...

My inq28 group is sleeping at the moment, even I have great ideas for new miniatures. That feral orc isn't progressing at, I might change the whole character to another.
Thanks for looking!

UPDATED FROM THE CRYPT!
I've found it hard to start anything after a long break, but I've been maturing the thought of the new character who's joining the ramshackle forces of Merchant. Now I assume I have the right parts glued together, and the next step is to take some GS and fill the gaps.
I call him Lotus Hatcher.
I've put my soul into this build. it took me several months to get the certain state of mind to put this thing together. This fella started as a humorous piece, but in the end it turned out to be really dramatic and sad. I see this character as a former impersonation of strength and power, but something has happened and he's only a shadow of his former self. He has some primitive technology to keep him going - external spine and wheels as legs. He drags himself trough the rough land.
Anxious project I'd say. Not humorous anymore.
...
Also here's a picture of my new more powerful lamp - it's a LED-rail with moving spots. As I've experienced, the color of the light is slightly more natural than my old lamp has. I use both of them at the same time to get awesome lightning conditions. I attached the LED-rail to a cymbal stand with some thick thread and voila!
