I'm not talking about stats here, but more or less model size and quality.

For 15 dollars less than one I can get a baneblade, and while true, you can't use those in standard games like you can a gargant/colo, it's still a nice model (and pretty dang big) for the price.

I did some googling and I didn't find anyone complaining about the high prices of the figures, so I was just curious about dakkas stance on things.

I really like most of the models and I'm especially happy with mine, the Judicator. I feel like the size is really there the hands could be small-based models in and of themselves. It just towers over everything else. You can really understand why they don't get cover or concealment from anything when you see them standing well above all the trees in your forest.

They strike a good balance with the level of detail, enough there to catch your eye but not so much you're going to spend forever and a day painting it.

In terms of assembly they're kind of flash-heavy and I even mistakenly removed a part of the model I thought was flash.. that wasn't. As a result my Judicator's exhaust isn't as perky as it should be. I would really look up an assembly guide online the little paper inserts aren't really enough. Once it's cleaned up though the design is very catching. It has more little fiddly bits than you'd expect though which is a pain. They also have nice big surfaces with plenty of room to free-hand embellishments if that's your thing.

That said I can certainly see reservations about the price tag, it's a big investment and isn't as interesting from a painting perspective as multiple smaller models. It's also a bit more painful if you're like me and kind of a crappy painter. It's one thing to ruin a Reckoner with your utter lack of skill, it's another thing with a really nice big model.

They're definitely pro priced, but I would compare them more to forge-world stuff than GW plastic stuff - large specialist models that aren't necessary, but are nice to have. You can get them for $100 if you shop around as well, making them on par with a baneblade in terms of price, though comparing a tank to the colossal/gargantuans is kind of comparing apples to oranges.

Meanwhile, here in Australia, a single Land Raider costs almost as much as colossal/gargantuan, so the price barely gets a mention from us

Yeah, with a bit of online searching you can snag both for 25% off. The 12% ish price difference stays though, lol

Colossals are fairly priced. They are about 4 times the size of a Heavy Jack and about 4 times the price.

Point for point, a heavy jack is more points for your $ than a Colossal but a Colossal can bring more to the table than its cost in Jacks.

In a 50 pt army, they are 18-19pts. And you can get them on Ebay for $90

Well worth the price for them, i plan having 2.

I got my Stormwall on Amazon for under $95. And free shipping since I have Prime.

As for price, it really depends. Yes it is alot of cash. But it is also alot of fun to paint and play with. It is definately the centerpeice of my cygnar army.

If you are on a budget and trying to build up an army I would avoid them. If you have a bigger gaming budget or already have a good size force then they are great.

The colossals and gargantuans cost about $15-20 more than I was hoping across the board, but online discounts can soften that blow. I won't say I'm happy with the pricing, but as they are not must-haves(except maybe galleon) and do provide a lot of unique gameplay experiences, I won't complain.

The quality of the models is very high, but they are not for novice modelers. Resin, no matter how well cast, requires pour points and vents which leads to artifacts of this casting process needing to be removed. Usually they are in inconspicuous spots so you can leave an uneven cut and it will probably be concealed.

In dollar-to-point comparisons colossals and gargantuans are comparable more to heavy infantry and cavalry than to heavy jacks and beasts. A heavy jack or beast is the most efficient way to get points in your army and colossals do not follow that trend.

In game terms, the mere existence of colossals has reshaped the meta and you will see their impact even if you don't own one. These giants are a greater boon to warmachine than hordes but even the most humble of the gargantuans has a whole lot more staying power than the tougest heavy beast. The gargantuans have yet to prove themselves, but the colossals have all been battle-tested and have proven themselves to be rather good for their large point costs. in general you get: a big gun, high melee power, and about 1.75 times the health of your toughest heavy.

Bottom line: PP hit the upper fringes of tolerable pricing with these for me.

From what I hear of people talking about it, the Woldwrath is the best of the gargant bunch. This has become something of an annoyance for two reason. First is that I was extremely disappointed to know that while other races where getting huge beasts of some form or another, orboros players (myself included) got a stone wold monkey. Totally not what I was expecting from a faction of druids. To make matters worse, as I said earlier I've heard people say statwise it's pretty solid, so that means I'll be seeing the damn thing more often than not.

I'm jealous of the Legion and Troll players. You guys got some awesome models.

If the rumors are true the mammoth will contesting the status of best gargantuan.

Also, the woldwrath has been in the background since the old ikrpg before hordes even existed. It shouldn't have been a surprise that circle would get it.

Yeah. Just as a restate, long-term Circle players like myself have wanted a Woldwrath for years. Originally I thought our battle engine would be one, and when they announced gargantuans, I think there was going to be a bit of table-flipping if it weren't the Woldwrath.

Also big stone and wood constructs are kind of an IK druid thing, if not a general thing. They kind of fill the spot ents do in other settings as I can gather.

And stuff.

Yeah, I knew about it before from the old IK d20 book. Monsternomicon I think. Maybe it's just the poses that have been a let down for me. I like the woldwyrd and the wold stalker, but most of the humanoid wolds are just so boring looking. Megalith isn't completely terrible, but idk. I got into Orboros because of the fur and fangs, not so much the stone. Perhaps we'll get a new large beastly thing somewhere in the future.

Misery. Missouri. Who can tell the difference.

The money v points for the collossals are worth it. I am really happy how my conquest performs at every level. Now the models where the money v points does not equal out is the Battle Engines. They are not the toolbox as the collossals and are quite honestly not really worth it. I use my gun carriage as a terrain maker and if i have a clear line a a infantry killer with trample.

Wow...yeah I agree, he looks a ton better with a bit of imagination and cutting.

Interest has been renewed!

Now I'm curious if you can make it look like he's going for a downward smash on the ground with that fist...although I'm a bit leery with cutting into a 97 USD model...

Huge based models are going to be the absolute high end of the cost spectrum for the game (barring medium based metal infantry/cav units).

As such, I find their price equivalent with their impact and abilities, both in points and dollars.
