I will name an HQ and you all take it from there... Some hq's are good out there but it is hard to fit them into a list. This current challenge is for lets say an 1850pt list.

HQ:
Ahriman 230pts

He is a level 4 psyker of tzeentch and has a unique warlord trait but its hard to fit him into a list to take full advantage of all that and still be able to take on most opponents.

So this is where you all come in... show me that list and be prepared to defend your list as its weaknesses will be identified.

lol, honestly surprised that no one could do it.... that or just didnt bother trying... a shame either way. I bought the model myself but cant see a situation where I can fit him in and still keep a balanced list.

3 Squads of 1k Sons as troops.

2-3 squads of 2 Obliterators.

Then perhaps Fateweaver/Herald of Tzeentch on Disc

2 Units of 5+ Pink Horrors

6-9 Flamers of Tzeentch

6-9 Screamers of Tzeentch

Maybe a Daemon Prince for air support?

with the price of a daemon prince, you could get a heldrake and a bit extra, so no point in taking a DP for air support.

Do you want fluffy or competitive or competitive fluffy?

Is this a kind of game or are you just trying to get people to build an army list for you? Because even your second post you mention the fact that you haven't been able to get him in a balanced list.

Its a challenge. I cannot myself manage to pull it off without seeing him not derail the list in some way. Maybe its because tzeentch CSM arent as strong as they used to be and thats what he unlocks and with the new rules for marks he cant join any units but unmarked ones or units of tzeentch.

Fateweaver's re-roll doesnt help csm. Herald on chariot is same points and so much better. As stated the daemon prince for air support would be better served by a helldrake. That list also lacks mobility. Just to point out a few flaws at first glance.

You've got good anti-infantry/horde and ok anti-tank. Chaos, no matter what they bring, will suck against flyers. Assault is not great, but you get by with tarpitting units. Overall, a list with Ahriman won't be perfect. You will have holes in your army, but I believe you can still build a decent TAC list with him (with any characters, actually).

That list is illegal only 1 troops choice and 4 elites...

Easily fixed though, just split and add to the cultists, I'll take 2 units of them please :-)

How about this for a list:

Ahriman 230

Tzeentch Daemon Prince: lvl3: wings, pa, mace, spell familiar 355

10 Terminators: 2 reapers, 7 combiplasmas, 2 fists, votlw 441

2 x 10 Csm: 2 plasmaguns, icon of vengeance 195
10 Csm: 2 meltaguns, icon 185

Maulerfiend 125
Maulerfiend 125

That way you infiltrate Ahriman and his block of Terminators and use prescience to annihilate a unit. If you get more units to infiltrate you can push forward the maulerfiends daemon prince or even melta toting squad if you need to. Against flyers you just march forward and table his ground units.

@lfingitnow, interesting list, maulerfiends is an unusual add......

well you still have 4 elites. Now Ahriman's bodyguard is 10 cultists and you have next to no scoring. Hardly a fix... Let alone any other issues with the list.

thinking of something similar, though Ahriman's warlord trait is not unique, you might as well go with the cheaper Huron. How about an infiltrating 10 man termie with kharn and another with Huron..

Yes you could do it with huron but then you wouldn't get 7 twinlinked plasmaguns for turn 1. With that in mind id drop votlw onthe terminators to get an icon of vengeance and upgrade a powerfist to chainfist.

I built one though I used him as an allied HQ. Bringing his level 4 psyker buffs to a necron list.

It would make sense fluff wise if he could roll them all. Ahriman can be a psychic nightmare.. the only thing I hate is the fact that if you roll some crappy powers he is pretty much a non-factor in the game.
