High Wave To Hell... here you will find my Cryx Battle Reports & WIP for the 2013 Season 01 Slo Gro League at Outside The Box Games in Voorhees, NJ. My intent is to go agaunst the grain by running a ranged offensive force rather than the common melee and spell strike style associated with Cryx. As for the color scheme = going with an alternate appearance stemming from the NQ Hellbound Challenge...pictures posted throughout these batreps as models become finished.

My default 15pt Mangled Metal list to open the season includes the following.

Epic Skarre ( WJ+6 ) Queen of the Broken Coast
~ 07 Reaper
~ 07 Reaper
~ 07 Reaper

HWTH #01 versus Cryx

Gaspy3 & Vociferon
~ Leviathan
~ Nightmare

Turn one opens for Skarre with Admonition on herself, and all three Reaper Helljacks running. Asphyxious responds with Mobility and advances with Vociferon - his two Helljacks also responding.

A single Reaper is able to drag the Leviathan at the top of turn two, and gains assistance from a second Reaper to eliminate the opposing Warjack. The third Reaper takes aim at Nightmare but fails to damage the Warjack, even after a boosted damage roll from Seas of Fate. Skarre ends the turn by advancing and using her Feat to neutralize Nightmare and protect herself plus her three Reapers. Asphxious has very few options at the bottom of the turn, so models simply take a more defensive position.

At the top of turn three, the Reaper that had previously failed in its task to drag Nightmare has much better results this time...Skarre then charges in to eliminate Nightmare, thus securing a victory.

Thanks Adam for a good game !

Coup de Grace:
~ Epic Skarre ( 1 )

HWTH #02 versus Cryx

Epic Deneghra
~ Nightmare
~ Slayer
~ Stalker

Denny opens the game with her advancing and her jacks running. Skarre plays it more cautiously with onky Admonition on herself, and she plus her jacks only advancing.

Following turn Denny begins Incorporeal and sends her jacks forward, one of which the Stalker near Skarre to attempt an early spell strike via Hellmouth...but Skarre slips away with Admonition. Denny then closes the turn using her feat. Not much to respond with here other than have Skarre use her Feat - Fate Weaving herself, two of her Reapers, Nightmare, and lastly Deneghra. The opposing Slayer however found itself in an odd position, being dragged within range of two Reapers = Slayer gets eliminated.

Following turn the Stalker advances in proximity of Skarre, and both Nightmare and Denny run to within melee range of Skarre. Skarre opens the turn holding all of her Focus, but wastes all of it trying to finish off Deneghra - she is knocked down and sitting on one health at the end of it. All three Reapers turn to fire upon her (dice minus seven because camped focus)... and I can't roll any damage above seven to end the game.

Following turn, Denny hits Skarre with Curse of Shadows and then Nightmare one hits her with a boosted damage roll to end the game.

Thanks for a good game Mike P !

Coup de Grace:
~ Epic Skarre ( 1 )

HWTH #03 versus Cygnar

Epic Caine
~ Hunter
~ Hunter
~ Hunter

Skarre to start the game, but Hunters having AD makes deployment questionable - some quick math hammer and Cryx forces are deployed midtable... Hunters AD to one flank, opposite Caine's position. Standard opening with Skarre (Admonition) advancing and the three Reapers running to close the gap to the Hunters. Small tactical / deployment error is realized when my opponent notices Caine (all focus camped) does not have Pathfinder - having wanted to setup a first turn assassination attempt by charging a well positioned Hunter...but the path would cross over a wall. Regardless, Hunters take aim at Reapers but have very little effect, and Caine ends the turn using his Feat and takes down one of the Reapers.

Second turn Skarre uses her Feat and weaves herself plus her two remaining Reapers. Caine and his jacks go on the defensive, finding some protection behind walls.

Skarre keeps herself at a safe distance, and sends her jacks running into melee range of the Hunters and Caine. The Hunters use Parry to safely step away, but their shots are less than dangerous. And Caine, equally so = scoring one point of damage on each of the first three hits on the engaged Reaper. A few more hits after have some impact, but the turn ends with the Reaper having the Helldriver and Cortex intact.

One swing from the Reaper on the following turn is enough to box Caine, and bring the game to an end.

Thanks for a good game Scott !

Coup de Grace:
~ Epic Skarre ( 1 )
~ Reaper Helljack ( 1 )

HWTH #04 versus Cygnar

Dominic Darius & Halfjacks
~ Hunter
~ Ironclad
~ Ironclad

Cryx wins the roll and begins the game - once more Skarre casting Admonition on herself then intentionally failing a charge to gain some extra distance...all the Reapers run forward. Darius and his Haljacjs advance, as do the Ironclads and Hunter - which manages to score some respectable amount of damage to a Reaper, but no systems crippled.

The second turn is nearly pointless because of Darius's Feat, but nonetheless it helps to close some distance = all three Reapers manage to drag / damage their intended targets however none of them become wrecked. Skarre ends the turn advancing behind a wall and uses her Feat to shutdown Darius and his three Warjacks. In return Darius camps Focus and uses his Feat, he and the rest of his battlegrouop makes some real estate adjustments.

Turn three has less than stellar results, as none of the Helljacks are able to dismantle the opposing Warjacks - and Darius has way to much ARM / Health for Skarre to interact. The two Ironclads certainly do their fair share of damage during their activation, leaving two of the Reapers close to the point of useless. The Hunter safely steps aside from the third Reaper, and takes a boosted attack and damage roll at Skarre, scoring some damage but not lethal.

Skarre opens the fourth turn by handing out all her Focus except one - for security purposes to Ram one of the Ironclads that is engaged with the unchecked Reaper. That jack then advances towards Darius and puts three hits into him with the Helldriver to end the game.

Thanks for a good game Derek !

HWTH #05 versus Legion

Prime Vayl
~ Nephilim Protector
~ Nephilim Soldier
~ Scythean
~ Shredder

Legion wins the roll to start the game, but turns it over to Cryx. Skarre and the Reapers begin as usual. Legion follows with Vayl advancing and her battlegroup either advancing or running - buffs all around where applicable.

On the second turn, the three Reapers work in concert to take down the Scythean and the Nephilim Soldier = Seas Of Fate certainly helped here (kinda) in that drag attacks and melee attacks were scored naturally thus allowing the allocated Focus to be spent on buying additional attacks. Skarre simply advances and uses her Feat to weave Vayl and her two remaining Warbeasts. Legion responds by trying to take defensive positions, using a neighboring hill and other buffs = Vayl becomes an ungodly high DEF target to deal with sooo...

Turn three Cryx takes aim at dealing with the opposing Warbeasts only, once again the Reapers working in unison to eliminate their targets thus earning a victory.

Thanks for a good game Nick !

HWTH #06 versus Legion

Saeryn
~ Carnivean
~ Scythean

Legion begins the game and opens the first turn with Saeryn and the two Warbeasts advancing - buffs where applicaple including Spiny Growth and Respawn. Cryx follows up with Skarre advancing with Admonition and the three Reapers also advancing.

Turn two Saeryn uses her Feat and her beasts run forward. This shuts down the post drag effect of the Reapers so they run forward as well within melee range of the Warbeasts, and then Skarre ends the turn using her Feat on Saeryn and her two beasts.

Not much for Legion to do at the top of turn three, so skip to the bottom of the turn - a somewhat non effective one at that. It takes the the combined efforts of two Reapers to eliminate the Scythean that simply respawns after. The third Reaper barely even scratches the Carnivean.

Legion 's fourth turn brings with it the destruction of two of the Reapers, falling at the hands of both the Scythean and the Carnivean. Saeryn finishes the turn by taking a more defensive position and sits on one Fury for transfer. Skarre allocates three Focus to the remaining Reaper and keeps the rest for herself - used to finish off the Scythean with her Hand Cannon, then cast Perdition on the Carnivean...allowing the Reaper to move closer towards it. The Reaper then begins its attacks on the Carnivean, but falls short of two damage points to end the game.

Saeryn heals the Carnivean at the start of turn five, and it follows up with wrecking the Reaper to bring the game to an end.

Thanks for a good game Brian !

HWTH #07 versus Legion

Epic Thagrosh
~ Carnivean
~ Shredder
~ Shredder
~ Shredder

Legion has the first turn, with Thagrosh casting Spiny Growth on the Shredders then intentiinally failing a Charge fo gain extra ground. Shredders go Rapid and run, and the Carnivean runs as well. Skarre responds with Admonition on herself and simply advancing, her three Reaper Helljacks all run forward.

Thagrosh uses his Feat on the second turn - all four beasts run forward to start and then begin their Feat benefit, but all three Reapers are left undamaged where it matters most: Cortex and Right Arm. Trying to set up a potential Feat turn, one of the Reapers performs a Power Attack Trample over a Shredder (damaged but not killed) and ends its movement within melee range of Thagrosh. The other two Reapers are able to work together using their Helldrivers and Horns to destroy the Carnivean plus two of the Shredders. Skarre Charges the last remaining Shredder with her sword but fails to hit - her Horns however had better results, eliminating the Warbeast thus earning the win.

Anyway count me subscribed, good luck with your games!

Thanks for following :-) and looks like one of the Reapers will be upgraded to Malice at the 25pt level, plus adding two min units of Black Ogrun Boarding Parties... or a single max unit of BOBP plus the Satyxis Captain just to keep Skarre from getting knocked down. Toying with ideas for now.

Trying hard to stay close to the intended range-theme, but looking at some of the current and potential lists (ie Garossals) seems I may need to add some heavy hitters if I want to stay in the running.

HWTH #08 versus Menoth

Epic Severius ( Tier 1 )
~ The Blessing of Vengeance
~ Crusader
~ Crusader
~ Repenter

Menoth wins the die roll but gives the first turn to Cryx. All three Reaper Helljacks run forward, and Skarre ends the turn with casting Admonition on herself and advancing. Severius and his battlegroup simply advance.

Checking control range at the top of turn reveals all intended targets are safely out of threat ranges of the Reapers. Skarre bleeds to upkeep Admonition, then sits on all of her Focus - her jacks move forward slightly by only a few inches. Menoth takes the same cautious approach, except it appears Severius may have stepped to far forward (in my favor).

Control check again at the top of turn three, and one of the Reapers is given three Focus. It activates and steps forward - taking aim at Severius... misses by one but Seas of Fate changes that. Severius is wounded by the attack and dragged towards the Reaper, then ends the game with a single boosted Helldriver attack.

Thanks for a good game Andy !

HWTH #09 versus Khador ( unscored )

Strakhov
~ Berserker
~ Juggernaut
~ Kodiak

Just a quick note first - players are allowed eight normal games during the 15 point level, but are able to play additional games to help players reach their eight games if needed. Since my eighth game was already played against Menoth ( HWTH #08 ) this game will not change my scores but wanted to include the game in my battle report.

Cryx begins the game with Skarre advancing with Admonition cast on herself, her three Reapers run forward. Strakhov advances, casting Superiority on the Juggernaut - the turn comes to a close with the three heavy Warjacks running.

Second turn has a pair of Reapers each dragging an opposing jack - the Berserker and Juggernaut. Third Reaper takes a shot at Strakhov but fails to drag him. Skarre ends the turn by charging the Berserker (wrecking it) and then using her feat to Weave Strakhov, the Juggernaut, and the Kodiak. Khador not having much to do on the bottom if the turn so Strakhov (keeps all of his focus) and the Kodiak reposition - but in doing so the Kodiak triggers Admonition... Skarre advances.

Skarre keeps one Focus for herself to open the third turn, and gives three each to two of the Reapers. Skarre then activates first, charging Strakhov with Takkaryx and dealing a fair amount of damage with the boosted damage roll plus Life Trader. She finishes her activation with a Seas of Fate boosted Ram attack that hits (no damage but knock down Strakhov) and her Gun Blade (no damage). A Reaper then steps up to Strakhov, auto hitting with its Helldriver to end the game.

Thanks for a good game Matt !

eSkarre and all three Reaper Helljacks are now finished, which gives a bonus score of 15 points for the league = bringing my tier one totals to Points 0121 W07 L02. And now starting to work on my 25pt list, so far assembled a min unit of BOBP: keeping with the Hellbound theme, the unit has just minor add-ons = Skarre's Horns. The bases are the 40mm Tavern Floors from Enigma, and when I get to the painting the skin tones will be the same red devilish flesh as Skarre...

So I suppose at higher points you'll need to look at maybe revenants and Bloat thralls for ranged support?

Maybe a Kraken just to make it interesting?

Having ranged support is what I wanted to build upon, but mainly interested in keeping the Hellbound theme. With that it becomes a matter of what fits the role better at higher points. Something along the lines of me taking a min unit of Satyxis Raiders over two Revenant Cannons.

HWTH #10 versus Minions ( unscored )

Bloody Barnabas
~ Blackhide Wrastler
~ Bull Snapper
~ Swamp Horror

Barnie's Swamp Pit put an early dent in my drag-n-hit tactics so Skarre is forced to Feat early shutting down the opposing Warbeasts - the Reapers run forward and engage their intended targets. In the aftermath on the following turn, the Swamp Horror and Bull Snapper are destroyed, and Skarre backs off. Blackhide Wrastler responds with a two-handed throw on Barnabas, and then stsnds the Warlock up. Barnabas uses his Feat and casts Fleash Eater on Skaree, but she survives with one point left. Mistake on my behalf with control range and shake allows only Skarre to be the most effective threat - and likewise, leaves Barnabas with one wound remaining. Barnabas takes one swing at Skarre next turn to end the game.

Thanks for a good game James !

HWTH #11 versus Menoth ( unscored )

Harbinger
~ Avatar
~ Reckoner

Cryx with the first turn, normal opening = Skarre with Admonition and an intentional failed charge, all Reapers run forward. Menoth has the Harbinger camping focus and also an intentional failed charge after using her Feat, the two Warjacks run as well.

Second turn begins with two of the Reapers teaming up on the Avatar after an initial drag - and scoring a respectable amount of damage. The third Reaper drags the Reckoner and scores some minimal damage. Skarre ends the turn by using her Feat to weave the three Menoth models. Note all four Cryx models took some damage because of the Harbinger's Feat. Not much for Menith to do here but something smells fishy, so Skarre relocates via Admonition after the Avatar adjusts slightly and uses Gaze. The turn ends with the Harbinger camping all her Focus and advancibg, plus the Reckiner making some real estate adjustments as well.

Third turn brings with it the destruction of the Avatar plus slightly more damage on the Reckoner, while Skarre casts Admonition on herself again and keeps a safe distance. Harbinger uses her nasty spell twice to soften one of the Reapers (engaged with the Reckoner) then advances, her Warjack then finishes off the Helljack.

Top of turn four, Skarre charges the Harbinger with Takkaryx and scores an average amount of damage with the boost plus Life Trader and then uses her Horns to knock her down with a Seas of Fate boosted attack. A Reaper then advances, and eliminates Harbinger with its Helldriver.

Thanks for a good game Mike !

HWTH #12 versus Skorne (unscored)

Void Seer Mordikaar
~ Cyclops Savage
~ Gladiator Titan
~ Rhinodon

Skorne wins the due roll for first turn but passes it to Cryx - Helkjacks run forward, and Skarre advances with Admonition. Mordikaar advances with his two heavy Warbeasts, and the Savage runs forward.

Second turn rains disgust on Cryx as all three Reapers are unable to eliminate the Savage after an initial drag - and this was accomplished with Focus beung spent equally on the Reaoers, Skarre only keeping one. I contemplated using Skarre's Feat here but did not see an immediate threat to do so (note to self = always go with your gut instinct, big mistake in five, four, three, ...) Mirdikaar begins the second turn by healing the Savage just enough to be more effective (Spirit and Mind) - it activates next (triggers Admonition = bigger mistake in two, one, ...) and does some damage to one of the Reapers. The Titan activates next and does a power attack Slam on one of the Reapers, earning a max distance of 8" on the distance - and Skarre in its path, knocking her down and doing damage. The Titan's follow up places it in base contact with Skarre, and brings the game to an end with a single bought additional attack and boosted damage roll.

Thanks for a good game Paula !

One of the few times (versus shooty lists in general) where I keep Death Ward on a Reaper to improve the odds of not having the Harpoon disabled. In this it allowed me to drag the Defender early and have the other two Helljacks team up against it, thus destroying it. Skarre's Feat then neutralizes Sloan plus her two Hunters. Reapers close distances on their targets - allowing a follow up turn with the game ending on a Reaper charge at Sloan.

League standings were posted last night = we had a total of 39 players at the 15 point level (and 45 now starting at the 25 point level)... I finished in 7th overall, tied with one other at 121 points each... Two players ahead of us are tied with 128 points each, and three more at the top of the board are tied with 135 points each...

At 25 the league allows us to add a second casterlock within our faction, and after some long thinking I decided to add the Witch Coven alongside eSkarre = new models / units to purchase, and others are getting stripped & repainted for the hellbound theme. The list themselves are not static but I do try to play the same one throughout a single point level... its a residual 'all comers' concept I hang on to.

Edit: I have another hellbound conversion I am working on that uses Greygore Boomhowler as the base model, but has weapons etc added to count as Boson Grogspar - when finished, it will replace the Satyxis Captain. Boson brings more ranged support to the list, and his melee toss ability kinda fits into the Reapers and BOBP drag effect :-) Also, considering conversions for the two Pistol Wraiths as well...

...as I expect to see some Gargantuans and Colossals at this level, I will change the lists up a bit = straying from the ranged idea, but not going to just give away wins. The alternate list for Skarre looks like this...

eSkarre
- Defiler
- Reaper
- Reaper
Satyxis Raiders ( full ) and Sea Witch UA
Satyxis Raider Captain

...the good thing at least is that these models maintain the hellish appearance :-)

Pistol Wraiths (2)

0.75 Mr Walls UA x2 Arm, Left
0.75 Mr Walls UA x2 Arm, Right
8.00 Blackbane's Raiders Leader x2
0.50 Pistol Wraith Card x2

Bosun Grogspar

8.00 Greygore Boomhowler Body
1.50 Greygore Boomhowler Right Arm
1.00 OAC Head (Goggles Up)
2.00 Bosun Grogspar Gun
0.50 Bane Lord Tartarus Horns
1.50 Soulhunter Trooper Arm, Left
1.50 Asphyxious Right Arm Soulsplitter

Thought about taking Grogspar myself, for the Reaper-esque toss, and converted to match my bloodgorgers. Look forward to your models and games

HWTH #17 versus Retribution Of Scyrah

Bosun Grogspar

Ossyan
~ Hypnos
Mage Hunter Strike Force ( full )
~ Mage Hunter Commander UA
Stormfall Archers
Heavy Rifle Team
Mage Hunter Assassin
Narn, Mage Hunter of Ios

...fast forwarding this one a bit because the game went too many turns to recount each. Skarre had to use her feat early to keep her better protected, and her Reapers from getting trashed. The game stalls for a few turns in the middle of the table as a war of melee attrition ensues between the Reapers and Boarding Party, and the Mage Hunter Strike Force and Stormfall Archers...

...Cryx win the battle with better armor and boxes - but both sides suffering losses. In the process through the MHSF shuts down for a turn to rally (wipes sweat from brow). Meanwhile its a real estate game with Skarre and the Assassin plus Narn. Going late into the game, Ossyan uses Admonition to avoid a Reaper's drag attack - having advanced the Helljack just a bit too close.

Banking on some math-hammer here, I run Skarre towards Ossyan and leave her in his back arc - hoping :-) he cannot hit her, as the odds are slightly in my favor. Ossyan activates next turn and turns to face Skarre, and as hoped :-) burns all his focus trying to hit her - and fails. Next to activate is the Mage Hunter Assassin that charges Skarre (ooops = didn't take that into account)... Skarre steps away with Admonition, but is still in range of the melee attack = the Assassin leaves Skarre with one wound remaining.

The following turn a member of the Black Ogrun Boarding Party fofeits his movement, and gets a back strike bonus on Ossyan (facing Skarre). The model wounds, drags, hits again with his melee weapon, and causes more damage. Skarre then charges Ossyan and eliminates him with one swing of her blade.

Thanks for a are e a l l y :-) good game Mike !

Saxon Orrik... still auditioning models for the 2pt spot

Epic Kaya & Laris
- Gorax

Druid Wilder

Shadow Pact kept the drag-offense in check, so went with an aggressive melee approach = the BOBP were used to screen the Reaper Helljacks, and felt some pain following Kaya's feat turn. Skarre followed up the turn using her feat and sending the Reapers forward - eliminating their primary targets soon after = the Gnarlhorn and the Stalker.

mid-to-late game featured the Helljacks and remaining BOBP members eliminate the opposition piecemeal, until one last desperate attempt by Kaya failed... Skarre eliminated her on the follow up to end the game.

Thanks for a good game, Robert !

HWTH #19 versus Cryx

The Witch Coven make their first appearance in the league, not counting them as my second caster choice in the 15pt MMT&C tournament last month. S o o o ...

The Witch Coven of Garlghast & Egregore
- Deathjack
- Deathripper
- Deathripper
Pistol Wraith
Pistol Wraith
Warwitch Siren
Warwitch Siren

Epic Deneghra
- Nightmare
- Slayer
- Slayer
- Stalker
- Defiler

Interesting opposing Cryx list, first thought = I should be able to control the tempo of play with the Sirens and Wraiths plus the Coven's Stygian Abyss...

...alas it was only a thought :-/ with a combination of tactical mistakes on both sides of the table, and some odd dice rolling to keep the game in unsure hands, this game went a few turns longer than expected. Fortunately for me (pokerface) the Deathjack was getting w a y more attention than it should have been...

..but fast forward late in the game after both Cryx Casters had used their feats, eDenny and her battlegroup move in for the kill = the Defiler kills one of the Coven Witches with its Spray attack, Deneghra charges in and finishes off a second Coven Witch, and the Stalker advances towards the third...

...but rolls horribly. Denny (three wounds remaining from previous abyss damage) can only stare in disbelief, then take a single shot from a Pistol Wraith to end the game.

Thanks for a good game, Mike !

HWTH #20 versus Cygnar

The Witch Coven of Garlghast & Egregore
- Deathjack
- Deathripper
- Deathripper
Pistol Wraith
Pistol Wraith
Warwitch Siren
Warwitch Siren

Epic Caine
- Squire
- Defender
Journeyman Warcaster
- Stormclad
Arcane Tempest Gun Mages

Cryx have the first turn, the Coven camp most of their Focus - casting Infernal Machine on one of the Deathrippers and allowing the Deathjack to cast Occultation on itself. Both Pistol Wraiths run during their activation, and the Warwitch Sirens use their Power Boost to advance the two Arc Nodes a little further with running them.

Cygnar units / models advance more cautiously trying to keep range to their advantage, but the only eligible shot is from a single Gun Mage that misses one of the Pistol Wraiths. Caine ends the turn with an extended bolt type spell that misses the same Pistol Wraith, then Gatecrashes behind a short wall.

The second turn for Cryx is pretty much uneventful, other than a Pistol Wraith is able to Chill Shot the Stormclad and a single Stygian Abyss via Arc Node that finds its target = Caine... with Blur, the Wall, etc the Coven needs a 15 to hit - and they get it with the boost, the boosted damage roll after leaves Caine with only two health remaining. Another Coven member uses her Feat to end the turn - but misjudging my distances and not moving the Egregore kept all other opposing models naturally out of harm's way - except two of the Gun Mages.

The bottom of turn two is where I learned how bad my measurements were = Caine on his Feat turn goes on a shooting spree and cripples most of my offense tools, except one of the Deathrippers - but it only takes the Defender to walk up to it (one hit for minor damage) to keep it from performing its channel purpose. The rest of the models / units finish out the turn - with Cryx losing both Pistol Wraiths, one Deathripper, and the Deathjack having only three Cortex boxes remaining.

Turn three for Cryx opens with the Deathripper taking the gamble of leaving melee range of the Defender = costly mistake... now minus two Arc Nodes because of the free strike :-( meanwhile the Deathjack tries to taunt the Stormclad into submission with its impressive size and scary appearance = not happening :-( and lastly the two Warwitch Sirens position for a bait & switch (my only hopes at this point) behind a building and a Veil of Mists. The exact positioning of every model at this time is important - I take steps throughout the closing portions of the turn to check the control range.

T h a n k f you l l y Caine took the bait = he advances, then Gatecrashes behind the building, and puts a single shot between the Sirens eyes... but in doing so, placed himself in a bad position = the careful measuring and placing in the previous turn paid off this time.

A quick check for the control range adds some reassurance at the top of the turn. The Egregore and Witches move independantly and precisely to allow for another chance to throw Stygian Abyss at Caine = and it works... one boosted hit and damage roll ends the game.

Thanks for a good game, Sean !

One thing I bring home with me from this game, plus the one prior with the WCoG, is the understanding of a lead role versus a support role. On paper, the idea of having multiple control elements (Stygian Abyss, Shadow Bind, Chill Shot) seems good - but there is no true threat element in the list = no lead role. 10 points of support via a pair each of Warwitch Sirens and Pistol Wraiths is becoming a point sink on the table - and can barely deal with infantry. I have two games that I must use the WCoG - and I may need to rethink the list before playing again.

Oh, and before I forget... "..my opponent was a handsome and sporting fellow.."

Apparently I am having some issues with images being displayed - something definitely on my end, and with some aid from Photobucket = I can neither see the images here that I already posted nor can I see the ones I send over Photobucket after I upload them. S o o o no new images until I get this corrected :-(

And forgive me, it was a long day of gaming and its getting kinda late - so here are the batreps in the short version...

HWTH #21 versus Cryx

Witch Coven of Garlghast & Egregore
- Deathripper
- Deathripper
- Nightmare
Satyxis Raiders ( full unit )
- Sea Witch UA
Satyxis Raider Captain

Epic Deneghra
- Defiler
- Nightmare
- Slayer
- Slayer
- Stalker

...there comes a time I believe when every player just kinda... blanks, for lack of a better word... at some point during their gaming. This happened here in the middle of turns three and four = where Deneghra was hit with a pair of Stygian Abyss strikes ( Shadow Bind ) on one turn, and without any other interference from the opposition, got hit again with Stygian Abyss on the following turn to end the game...

HWTH #22 versus Legion

Epic Skarre
- Reaper
- Reaper
- Reaper
Black Ogrun Boarding Party ( min unit )
Black Ogrun Boarding Party ( min unit )
Bosun Grogspar

Saeryn
- Angelius
- Carnivean
- Raek
- Shredder
Forsaken
Shepherd
Spell Martyr

...Saeryn using her feat first was the pivot point of this game = allowing Skarrw to use her feat on the following turn to turn tables in favor of Cryx. Late game, Saeryn and the Carnivean find themselves between rocks (Reapers) and a hard place - Helldrivers hit their targets repeatedly to end the game...

HWTH #23 versus Retribution

Witch Coven of Garlghast & Egregore
- Deathripper
- Deathripper
- Nightmare
Satyxis Raiders ( full unit )
- Sea Witch UA
Satyxis Raider Captain

Adeptis Rahn Shyeel
- Phoenix
Houseguard Halberdiers
- Officer & Standard UA
House Shyeel Battle Mages
Lady Aiyanna & Master Holt
House Shyeel Magister
Arcanist

...Rahn gets hit twice with Stygian Abyss early in the game leaving him with three wounds remaining - and that's about the extent of what Cryx brought to the table. Satyxis Raiders failed on all levels :-( but the Nightmare picked up some of the slack, destroying the Phoenix. But then silly things started to happen, and not in a haha kinda way. Battle Mages should not be taken lighly, and neither should Rahn. After losing both Arc Nodes, the Warcaster and Unit were able to push - pull - slam - etc the Nightmare outside of the Coven's control range, and damaging it enough to the point of destruction through two turns. Meanwhile, the Halberdiers were able close in on the Witch Coven, and eliminate all three to end the game...

Thanks to each for the good games !.. Mike P, Brian C, and Mike G

HWTH #24 versus Cygnar

Black Ogrun Boarding Party ( min unit )
Bosun Grogspar

Commander Nemo
- Thorn
- Thunderhead
Stormblades
- Officer & Standard
- Storm Gunners ( 2 )
Reinholdt

Nemo and Skarre exchange feats early, while the Stormblades are able to eliminate both Boarding Party units - but not before they are able to disable Thorn. Bosun Grogspar takes one for the team to stall the Thunderhead for one turn.

Nemo goes on the defensive side, camping most of his focus. But Skarre charges in to begin the turn - during her activation she damages Nemo twice with Takkaryx and an additional attack with her Great Rack pushes Nemo aside - lines and distances are very important here - being knocked down makes it easier for one of the Reapers to hit Nemo, and a boosted damage roll drags him within reach range of the Helljack = Nemo sustains further damage from the Helldriver attack but is not eliminated. A second Reaper then risks a free strike from the Thunderhead, suffers minor damage, and then drags Nemo a second time with minimal damage needed - the Helldriver attack that followed however brings the game to an end.

Thanks for a good game, Dan !

This completes my eight games for the 25 point level, and features four games each with Skarre and the Witch Coven. Any additional games played before the end of the month are unscored, and done so to help other players get their eight games. Overall happy with the results at this point level ( 7W 1L ) but j e e z its been a struggle :-( nonetheless having fun with the lists and look forward to finishing the hellbound theme - which for now includes me having to paint a few more models to get the fully painted bonus.

0106 points = 15 point level = W6 L2
0015 points = 15 point level = fully painted bonus
0188 points = 25 point level = W7 L1
0000 points = 25 point level = fully painted bonus ( not yet )
