Subject: If your lone remaining unit pursues a fleeing unit off of the board edge, what happens?

Pardon my ignorance, came up in a game last night against myself trying to figure out the answer.
Lets say goblins chased elves off board. elves have multiple units on board still why goblins have this lone unit.
Does the game end because there are no goblins left on the board like in 40k? or on the goblin turn do they just appear back where they left the table edge?
(if so can they shoot this turn/use magic?..
I assume they can't declare a charge from "off" the board even if there was a target in where their arc would be?
Sorry about the noob question but that's where I find myself!

I think it has it mentioned on 58 as I recall. I don't believe the game ends as you're not failing by charging off the map, you're winning.

To my knowledge if it chases another unit off the board it comes back next turn (for the owning player). It shouldn't be game ending.
It sounds like the high elves were about to win anyway but well there ya go.

They leave the table and come back on the next turn at the point they left. If they are off the table when the game ends they are destroyed IIRC.

thanks everyone.
yeah the goblins were losing pretty bad and that little unit wasn't changing it. they eventually fled from the dryads just 2" behind them on their tails, with only 1 big boss musician and unit champion remaining...
so all glory to the hynpotoad er wood elves.
have an ongoing match at home that is seeming much closer of a match. Hopefully learning a thing or 2!

@Grey_Templar- not sure that's right. I'll take a look at the book, but if I recall correctly, victory points are awarded for units that have been destroyed or fled off the board. Having fled off the board is not the same as pursuing off the board.
Also, there is no WHFB victory condition in the normal book that induces an auto-lose if you have no models on the board. Or not that I'm aware of at least.

Also, reread when they come back on the board - remaining moves. You cannot declare a charge at that point.

I was once wiped out on turn 3 and got a draw on turn 6.

I can't find anything about it after a good scouring. I guess they are still alive and don't give up VPs.
