Alright, I know I shouldn't, but I'll bite: why wouldn't a 10 year-old use a gun with the intent to kill?

Of course he might do so, but I would wager that most 10 year olds don't understand the concept of lethal force.

Electrical shocks will usually trigger involuntary muscle responses, wouldn't this make the kid more likely to actually pull the trigger accidentally?

Pull it once, perhaps. Once is better than twice or more, in this case.

Of course its a situational thing, but the point I'm making is that there are possible scenarios in which using a taser on a 10 year old is the best decision. Not many of them, but they exist.

Life does not cease to be funny when people die any more than it ceases to be serious when people laugh.

In circumstances where cops have rolled up on kids with water guns that they thought were real - they've shot the kids. This led to state laws where water guns had to be colored or have colored tips to avoid the catastrophe occurring again-which resulting in dead kids and ruined the lives and mental states of the cops involved. .

SO CAN WE NOT GO THERE ANY MORE.

As a side note, were I to commit any sort of armed crime in public, I think I would consider painting any involved firearms Nerf-colours.

What happens when they just laugh at you, or you do it to an old fart who's laughs, whistles and the last thing you see is a cloud of wiener dogs (and one really old one peeing on your ankle). ..

Whatcha gonna do, when the wiener legions...come for YOU!

About once a quarter a chicken or rooster get into my back yard in Houston. I ruined a pair of shoes chasing one around, Rusty got one, and another one appears to have ran afoul of a cat attack while I was gone.

The worst was a fighting rooster that Susty chased into the house, and into the bedroom. Ever try to get a bloodied fighting rooster out of a bedroom? DUDE.

Yawn, stretch, fart.

I think you'll find that although the right loves to rail against unions in general and especially teacher's unions, it is in fact the police that have among THE strongest unions in the US.

Where else could you get caught banging a hooker in the back of your squad car and get away with the defense "I had just smoked a joint and didn't know what I was doing." While in uniform. This actually happened btw. The 2 guys involved got about a week paid suspension.

Indeed, all this could have been averted had the 10 year old been armed.

Nobody is claiming that. There is nothing here besides a police officer being insanely stupid.

I'm the first to defend the police, they have a tough job, but that is irrelevant to this discussion.

Wait, so an incredibly inane strawman remark - threadcrapping, essentially - was quoted for truth, but a response to that was "irrelevant"?

I was saying the police having a tough job and we should be a little more understanding was irrelevant to this case.

Sure, I agree with that. I agree they have a tough job, but that understanding really extends to actions that fall within their job responsibilities.

So are you saying taxing kids during show and tell isn't within thier job responsibilities?

Hey, imagine the money the taxpayers saved by not having the officer go through a commercial car wash? If there's any lesson to take from this, is that Child Labor is the future of tomorrow!

GW Rules Interpretation Syndrom. GWRIS. Causes people to second guess a rule in a book because that's what they would have had to do in a GW system.
