I designed it. as i was unhappy with the static walkways on the market.i dont want to play the same game every time.
So i designed it so you can go as high as you want or off in any direct to want
I got a 3rd party to cut it ( i wish i could afford the laser)lol
Its on ebay now as a full set (flat pack)
If you want a set drop me a line

As great as it looks £185 is a bit steep (for me at least). Have you thought about selling smaller packs?

What's the cost driver here? Material, time, or cost to rent the machine? If you share then people may be able to make suggestions to bring your price down?
Is it MDF or Hobby Grade Plywood. What's the cost difference between the two?
At 100 GBP I'd snap a set up from you, no hesitation. At 150, I'd need to see more pictures with models for scale, different layouts, but it maybe still high for something I'd use occasionally.

I love the look of it, and would totally buy a set for £120, maybe up to £150... £180 is a little steep IMO, but it looks like great stuff!
I'd totally be in for a kickstarter if you set one up....

2mm & 3mm mdf is half the price of model grade plywood or balsa wood
im currently getting a third party to cut it at the mo.
ebays a killer with all its fees with paypal as well.
i wish i could get it down to £100
ive redesigned it 6 times each time for cost reduction
im a perfectionist & if im going to spend hours of my life designing stuff it not going to look crap or cheap & nasty
people who have seen it say maybe cutting the walkways lenght from 320mm long (roughly a foot) to 160mm (roughly 6inch) with only 2 towers insted of 4 would get the price down
walkways 320mm
crossroads 160mm
towers 80mm tall
for the people who have asked for dims
feedback welcome Automatically Appended Next Post: i use solid works of my designing both 2d & 3d

These are real nice but I have to concur on the price.
Have you thought about loosing the sub floor supports? It's nice detail but presumably unnecessary, you could loose that and reduce costs?

=O is that magnets I see inbedded into pieces to connect them? If so I have to give you praise on going all out on this one. Been wanting to play with magnets in my work for a while.
That said food for thought:
All your towers I would leave as they are... There perfect for anyone who does any industrialesk modeling. Very simple and easy for someone to individualize or break up for a bigger project. Maybe making a few solid walls and bulkheads, large and small.
One area I could see you cutting a lot of expence out is your floors and railing. Your paying for the material and the expence of getting them cut. I think you could get 1/4" styrofoam to work for your floors just as we'll, with the designs and patterns on the floor cut out of thin cardboard, like your cereal box, and glue that to the floors. This i think will actually improve the feel of your pieces by giving them some real depth that any hobbiest loves to play with and use when there painting. Some of the more elaborate pieces that you used under your floors for joist to give the feel of strength to your floors i would still have cut, but a lot of that can be replaced by styrofoam as well. All of this will take up a bit more of your time in the end but will save you some expenses considering styrofoam is like 1/10 the cost of balsa and you can cut it equally as clean and exact with a hot wire cutter.
But just trying to work a little inception here. If your looking to stick with having everyone thing cut and universal i completely follow you there. But if you can break down some of your component into simpler cheaper materials that you can produce yourself will be completely worth it!
If you look at my gallery you'll see some of my work with foam core poster board materials. This could be usable to you and cheaper as well. My only worry is the foam core can shrink and warp sometimes especially when you have a lot of glue on the foam core and its drying.
All in all great craftsmanship. Would love to see you play with few more concepts and designs.

I love the look of these walkways, they would look brilliant in an urban game setting. With regards to the cost of production, i had a chat with a friend of mine who has his own laser cutting machine, do you use a 3rd party cutting service such as ponoko to cut the material? If you do my friend reckons he could dramatically reduce the cost of cutting these pieces, so that you could get under the £100 mark for the set. If your interested drop me a PM and i can put you directly in touch with him.
