The Moritat is an HQ choice for 30k Armies. He has a special rule allowing him to make additional shooting attacks for each successful hit. These additional attacks are resolved against the same target and continue until he misses. He has the gunslinger rule and comes with two Bolt pistols that can be upgraded.
I would want to field him with 2 plasma pistols, artificer armor and a jump pack - totals about 150 points.
He's only allowed to join Destroyer units (an elites choice) and he does not count towards your compulsory HQ choice (you have to take another one).
I was looking for a way to get more AP2 into my World Eater army - I think this guy fits the bill.
How would I calculate the average number of hits this guy can generate? He's BS5, 2 wounds with a 2+ armour save.
Another weapon choice he can take is called a Volkite Serpentia, its S5, AP5 and for each unsaved wound it generates, you resolve an equal number of automatic hits against the same unit. Against 5+ save units, this guy wrecks face.
Its conceivable that this guy can wipe out a unit 30 boyz or a tervigon all by himself.
Do you think he's worth it?

Binomial probability, pick either a target number of hits (per gun) or a percent chance of getting a certain number of hits and solve for the other.

One Plasma Pistol is more than enough.

With him having 2 wounds AND artificer armor, Im not too concerned about losing him to "gets hot" wounds. Even with having to make 2 armor saves for missing twice with plasma pistols. Ill go with either matched pairs of pistols, Id rather not mix and match them.

Unfortunately not, since the bonus hits are only from unsaved wounds so you aren't getting more than a plasma pistol unless the invuln is as good as the armor save (for example, 2+/3++ favors the plasma pistol), and even if you had some rare 3+/3++ situation you aren't getting all that many additional wounds out of the volkite weapon.

Correct, correct. My mouth spoke before my calculator could; the Serpenta is, in fact, a poor choice.
(Damn that sounded nerdy.)
