heh. For the longest time, my hobby shop couldn't get the Orginal Orange Label stuff in, all they had was the non-toxic variety Weldene. This stuff 1. didnt work, and 2. when spilled, would act as a solvent to the ink on the cutting mat., and 3. stinks worse than the OG

For reference:
Plastruct Plastic Weld = For bonding different plastics to each other (Styrene to ABS, Acrylic, etc.
Plastruct Bondede = For bonding Styrene to Styrene
Plastruct Weldene = For wasting time and accomplishing nothing

Nice shape you have planned for that building.

I like the ketone smell of poly cement, nearly as good as toluene or ether... But I've spent a lot of time around various solvents, so that may explain a few things...

Good to see you still knocking out the terrain, Dave! I'm interested to see how the curving slope of the roof turns out - an extra challenge for sure!

If it's any consolation, I knocked over a pot of superglue on my first cutting mat, and promptly glued my finger to it trying to clean it up. Never quite got that off

Ah, but for gluing acrylic to acrylic, like plexiglas you have several choices. The best is called Weld-On #4 which is a gel. You could use weld-On #3 if you want some serious frustration. Or for the most frustrating, use methylene chloride. The trick with the latter is to dissolve plexiglas shavings in it until it thickens up a bit, then use it.

All in well ventilated areas of course. Don't need to become accidental 'huffers'.

My cardboard thing for the League comp was a bust. I have no excuse, and I am ashamed.

To cope, I have been building some large scale 1/16 scale figures

These Zombies are for an IPMS-USA review. They are packaged brilliantly as an old VHS tape box depicting a fictional B-movie horror series from the 1980s.

And then this Dwarf from Scale World Models just for fun

Thanks, the minitaire paints are quite rich with pigment. I've also used some of the new Vallejo washes for the first time here. They may be a new favorite of mine.

Haha Klaus, I don't know man, I've shelved quite a few projects. I'd say that you for sure have completed more than I have, and yours are definitely more ambitious than mine.

That's true Doc!! Very True!

We just spent the weekend in Chicago. Mind you, normally, Chicago in February.....not so pleasant weather....But this weekend it was beautiful, sunny, 68 degrees out. We had fun,

but I got most of my inspiration from rivets...rivets EVERYWHERE..especially the bridges...I'm talking ridiculous even for the Necromunda Underhive amount of rivets.

These gentlemen riveters, Were our Spiritual Forefathers.

Those bridges were meant to last! Some whimpy welded steel would need replaced 487 times before those rivets will fail.

I love Chicago's little sturdy bridges. They snuck up on me when I was there last. One minute you're on a city street, the next minute you find yourself crossing a canal. And then suddenly it's right back to the city proper. Crazy place.

Not where I should be

All the paint looks fairly glossy, I know you will possibly hit it with a dull coat, however are the paints naturally that glossy?

Model looks brilliant and nice details. The "other" stuff is looking great, really nice colours.

Decrepit Dakkanaut

No, they aren't glossy, you're seeing gloss from the washes. Gloss, Flat...all irrelevant until the end

Not where I should be

Got it, and you are absolutely right. My only issue with glossy paint, not what you have done with washes, but genuinely glossy paint is I don't think it gives the layers as good a hold, i.e. paint rubs off a bit easier. I actually use this to me advantage during weathering, But as you say the end result has nothing to do with the layers in between as far as shine goes. And washes do tend to give a glossy finish when done well.

Next question is whats the company he used to work for going to be?

And that is a really gorgeous orange, and his PPE obviously didn't hold up very well. At least in protecting him. I mean could the zombies not see his Hi-Vis vest, shoddy work boots and think ah Local Council worker only good for drinking tea and looking in holes!

Heh.. Well, I've been concocting my own 1980s B-movie story in fact. "Gino was working with a crew on the Eastbound lane, directing traffic around the other three guys holding the shovel up, while Frank was eating lunch in the cab of the backhoe. We're not sure what happened to Frank, but suddenly the backhoe started rotating at full speed, the sharp teeth of a backhoe will easily tear through most materials, including Gino"

I DO love that Orange, It's called Hazard Orange. I only used black wash so far on it, but it has that mesh texture, which will be fun to highlight. I will need some discipline from here on out on the paint job. I need to remember that the blood mess from this kind of trauma wold be significant, but at the end, it'll need to be more "hollywood"

Also, I know these Zombies are Day 1, so would be fresh, but I can't resist painting the greyish dead skin...artistic license
