Ok so I have an event coming up and the shop decided to try 2400 points instead of 2500 as usual. Basically it bans all the good lords from my Daemons codex lol

What do you think?

Masque (General)

Problems I see are not having a 4th lv wizrd in a competitive army. But again I dont really need much but I am afraid of spell blow out.

Best thing that can happen is my lv 2. rolls glean magic and I can combat them that way. But again if not its still ok.

Basically I want the bloodletters to kill something every turn and them run away due to the leadership negatives.

What glaring holes did I miss? What could be better? I am not sure I like the 12 daemonettes but did not know where else to go...

welp. at 2400 best thing you can get is a GUO with balesword if your meta is ogre heavy. That being said. I'd move general to one of the khorne dudes and give at least one a firestorm blade.

I'd rather take a loremaster herald that can fly and drop the spell breaker. to take beasts, light, life or shadow.

I would find blocks of 60 excessive. I typically take 30. I would consider dropping 10 of each, and the daemonettes to make a unit of horrors 30-40ish. add a second channel, and some magic missles. Take lore of life and just be cautios and defensive.

I was thinking actually about taking lore of metal.

I think the loremaster is more important too.

The reason I have them so large is for points denial and because its popular for chaos lists with 60 man marauder units that have g weapons. Basically I need to beat steadfast hence the high numbers.

GUO seems ok but the nourgle lore has no synergy here and he is still a cannon ball target. Also he would cost me 550 or so of points I could make 50 more bloodletters with.

watch out for skaven and VC and other armies that have undying masses to throw at you. They can quickly flank a big unit like that and make you'r army go away tghat way. Its not easy, but possible with good spells. I've seen some stubborn LM do damage once they've had speed of light,etc cast on them or you've been subjected to death spells over and over again.

GUO is 10 wounds, with lore master of life is huge. His spells are not great, I usually have ran mine at lvl 2. I figured I'd get a 1/3 shot at his 6th spell which is very effective against 60 marauder blocks. kill 30, make 10 nurglings, place infront, let them charge you strike first. Kill another 10-15 maybe win combat.

His signature spell is the big one. That's the one that allows him to take on essentially any tough monster, character, MI unit with ease.

If you are super nasty, shadow or death + nurgle for the T debuffs is really nasty.

I don't think lore of life can give wounds back to characters (haven't seen it in a while but think I remember something along those lines) I'd also go with shadow over metal for obvious reasons unless your catering your list to deal with high armour saves that may be prevalent in your area

So I actually won the tournament! 14 players. I had a massacre, a major victory, and a minor victory.

Here is the final list I played:

Masque (general)
Tz. Herald, BSB, Icon of Dispair, Master (heavens!), fly
khorne herald, armor
khorne herald, armor

50 bloodletters, full command
50 bloodletters, full command
32 bloodletter, musician, standard

fiend of slaneesh
fiend of slaneesh

I ended up using heavens as the casting costs of the combat spells that could give me boosts or give my opponents negatives were well suited for only having a level 2. Iceshard blizzard destroyed people as they would be hitting me on 5's a lot of the time or 6's when they faied their fear tests. With the leadership bomb too it was easy to route hoards and steadfast opponents.

My first opponent was empire, shooty with witch hunters, a unit of bird knights, and a hoard of swordsmen. I was able to table him as his shooting couldnt be as effective as he needed vs my demon saves.

my second opponent was dwarves. His shooting sniped a herald in the first turn with a failed look out sir but that was the extent of his effectiveness. His lord and bsb were in a 30 man unit of hammerers who fled from a charge and with the leadership bomb were paniced off the board for a huge points loss which resulted in the win.

the last opponent was vampire counts. He had 8 units of dogs and plenty of other chaff to cause me to reach noting till late game. He used the vamp aura to give negative leadership and had 2 terrorgeist and a banshee flying around screaming the whole game. I got lucky when he failed a leadership test for his 1 terrorgeist to fly and I was able to catch up to his with an overrun move. It was a super close game and time was called before we actually finished. I lucky was granted the minor victory at that point.

All in all a great event and I really appreciate the imput guys!

Yes btw it grants a wound back to anything, characters included.
