Can you give examples of his games? I don't recognize the name, but I might have played some.

Fable, Fable II, sort of supervised III, barely supervised The Journey, Theme Park, Black and White, Black and White II, Dungeon Keeper and Curiosity, to name a few.

For First Person RPGs, you really can't go wrong with Skyrim (don't get it on PS3) or Fallout 3 or Fallout New Vegas. I personally would recommend the Fallout series there. For isometric RPGs I would recommend Fallout 1 or 2 as classic old school RPGs with tons of adult themes and humor. The Witcher is also very good, but as people have said, the combat can be a little... weird. Dragon Age Origins is awesome but stay away from DA2. The characters are great in 2, but the setting and the story are lackluster compared to DA:O.

I think you mean PS3...
At least, I hope you do...

Wow, haven't played any of them.
Huh.

Dungeon Keeper is really good...
Black and White is also pretty good.
The Fable series... I didn't like it but some people do...

Actually, what springs to mind is an RP server on Minecraft called Lord of the Craft. If you play at peak times, it's fairly well populated. You have to apply through a lengthy application process (it took me six goes!) but after that you RP and stuff around the cities and wilderness and stuff.

Except I don't find minecraft any fun to play. The graphics are horrible and my eyes hurt enough without that adding to it.
nomotog wrote: No one has mentioned arcanum yet. It's lovely game and has hands down the best crafting system you will find in any video game.
always been curious about that. How is the story? Is it fairly standard "guy/girl saves world/village/universe?"
That is the the one sentence summery of of the plot, but it sounds better when you use more then one sentience. I can't really tell you too much without spoiling, but things start when the zeppelin your on is shot down and a dieing gnome gives you a ring telling you to find the boy. Kind of your basic breadcrumb plot. You go find the boy then you have to find someplace else and then someplace else ect.
It's a really nice setting. It's steampunk, but not overly so. (I think it's the first steampunk setting.) It's a basic fantasy setting that is under going a scientific revolution. Magic is incomparable with technology and that is the driving idea behind most everything. The elves are finding themselves pushed out as there forests are cut down. (Some fight back as anti technological terrorists dark elves.) Gnomes are becomeing evil businessmen. Orcs are made slaves in the newly built factories. The dwarfs are hiding away in their mountain strongholds after doing something that you will have to find out in the game. Just a really fresh look to the stranded tropes.
The centre of a massive brood chamber, heaving and pulsating.
The Final Fantasy series is pretty good. The early ones aside from III are all good, VII is the all time classic and one of the first games ever with true 3D graphics, X and XII are OK (although X is plagued by Tidus and his HA HA HA HA HA...Yes I know it's deliberately awful and isn't supposed to be a serious attempt at laughing, but it makes me giggle) XIII is actually OK and has a decent story but is a bit linear. XIII-2 is a vast improvement over XIII, and I recommend it.
Fire Emblem is good from what I've heard, and is one of the best series on the GameCube (I think they've made sequels on later platforms).
The Legend of Zelda is of course an all time classic, my recommendations would be Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Windwaker and possibly Twilight Princess.
Squigsquasher, resident ban magnet, White Knight, and general fethwit.

Then it's an RPG. I'd certainly count it as one...
By that logic 99% of all games are RPG's.
Yup. They're just in different depths of roleplaying. CoD is technically an RPG, but nobody really regards it as such due to the linear gameplay.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Alright instead of laughing at you I should explain why you're wrong typically a video game RPG is about recreating the pen and paper RPG experience in a video game format. In general video-game RPG's tend to have a leveling system, adjustable stats that determine how proficient your
character is at certain things, character customization, NPC interaction, exploration, quests, loot, new items and equipment, abilities, a combat system, etc. While an video-game RPG doesn't have to have all these elements to qualify as one it should have some of these.

According to the previous definition, Dakka is an RPG.
We have a leveling system, adjustable stats, profile customization, deep interaction, exploration, loot quests from Lego, new features and forums, our abilities directly impact the environment and there's definitely a combat system.
Seriously though, Zelda's not an RPG. It is an adventure game.

Best RPG ever... Darklands. Medieval Germany, traveling around solving problems. You had fighting - all your various melee weapons, and ranged weapons - pistols, basic guns, crossbows and what have you - and then alchemy, and calling on saints if you had a religious character. None of that heathen magic bs - you spent a good chunk of the game putting warhammers into the heads of witches and what have you who practiced magic.Plus, nothing like propping up a stapler to hold down a key on your keyboard while you go to school so your party spends 35-40 years in a town working so you can then begin adventuring as a bunch of ridiculously well equipped 55 year olds.

I think the RPG-7 is the best RPG as not only does it have an effective blast radius, but it is also cheap and easy to use, it is very commonly used by Al-Qaeda's forces in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Come on, you've got to try harder than that...
Too obvious.
Your name isn't exactly subtle either...

Its because ordinance is still a word.
However, firing ordinance at someone isn't nearly as threatening as firing ordnance at someone.
Ordinance is a local law, or bill, or other form of legislation.
Ordnance is high caliber explosives.
No 'I' in ordnance.
Don't drown the enemy in legislation, drown them in explosives.

Micheal's got a point there, mind you.
Ok, here's another point for you then - my initials IRL are RPG. So I'm the best rpg.
