Hi guys, our blogs been running for a little over a month now and is growing FAST (a lot faster than expected!)
We are on the look out for people who may be interested in producing an article on a General 40k subject of their own choosing as either a one off article or perhaps an ongoing series!

The blog is here: http://scifiwargamers.blogspot.co.uk/

If you are interested let me know!

Well when you say a general 40k subject, how general can a subject be and still be accepted by you blokes?

Would an article about different kinds of gamers that you come across in 40k, and how to deal with them, be considered to be a 'general 40k' topic? Or would that be more of a 'general wargaming' topic?

I wish I had time for all the game systems I own, let alone want to own...

Sure. How much do you pay for articles?

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

Hi, the subject can be as broad as you like (as long as its PG13 to a point!) as long as its to do with 40k then its fine!

Do you pay retroactively? I'm kidding, I'll see how it comes together, if I think it's rubbish I won't bother you, but if it comes out alright I'll send it your way. When are you guys looking to post the article? Or is it more of an open ended 'submit articles and we'll thing about posting them' kind of thing.

Then why does any sane person want to write for your blog instead of writing for their own? What exactly do you have to offer in exchange for their work?

First day on the internet? People do things just because.

Especially in a subject like this. How many people have gone on several paragraph long rants, usually way longer than a single forum post deserves, just to gripe/criticize/ramble on about one small issue that they find extremely important.

And some people write just to be heard. A collective blog serves that purpose well because people tend to wander on sites and will find articles easier. Not to mention that taking work from several authors eases up stress on the collective because they aren't so pressed to pump out articles just to keep traffic up on the site.

Anyways, now I started to ramble on. Internet. People. Do stuff. Because. That's the jist.

I'm expecting an Imperial Knights supplement dedicated to GW's loyalist apologetics. Codex: White Knights "In the grim dark future, everything is fine."

"The argument is that we have to do this or we will, bit by bit,
lose everything that we hold dear, everything that keeps the business going. Our crops will wither, our children will die piteous
deaths and the sun will be swept from the sky."

Would you need all 40 articels by the same person or could one submit say 5 on one subject etc?

Oh, I'm sure someone will be gullible enough to submit something for free. My real point here is that it's disrespectful to ask for free writing submissions, if you're going to ask someone to do something for you then you either need to pay them or offer them a deal that lets them get something out of it (and no, "opportunity to be published on the internet" doesn't count). Expecting free writing work is pretty much saying "your time and effort are worthless".

That isn't nice, I'm going to be submitting something. Not because I'm gullible, not because I have nothing better to do, just for fun, and to help out a random person. Is that so bad?

I'm not insulted at all by the request. Those who want to will contribute, those who want a better offer will look elsewhere. Everyone is happy.

Hi, it would appear i posted the title of the topic wring, i never noticed until i just looked! and yes its meant to be a 40k article, not 40 seperate articles. that would be a writing marathon!

If you come up with something just let me know!

Cheers!

Because they have something they want to share with people? they dont want to have the hassle of setting up a whole blog to put out a single rant? there are a lot of reasons.

That attetude is 15 years old. You should look it up on wikipedia...

Look it up un wikipedia, get it? LoL!

Edit: I am sorry if I come off as rude Peregrine but as someone who studies medias and did a course in motivational psychology you just really made me laugh. :-)

Anyway, I looked it up on wikipedia for you. Everything on wikipedia is done by volunteer work. I also think that dakka, the very forum you are on is done volunteeraly? Also the computer game minecraft finished it's tutorial with a link to a minecraft wiki that was emty, and now is very full indeed.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Community_of_Wikipedia

Fun fact: Did you know that people who are enrolled in an organisation that does a lott of volunteeraly work live longer then people who do not do it statistacly speaking. The amount longer you live is just as long as that of a non-smoker vs a smoker.

Not quite. Guest-Blogging is quite a thriving business/hobby on the internet, and getting a guest post published on some of the best blogs is actually quite hard, almost akin to getting (likewise for no money) published in an academic journal (i.e. try submitting a guest-post to problogger.net for example).

There're whole social networks build around the concept (e.g. http://myblogguest.com/ or http://www.postjoint.com/), which might be worthwhile trying if you're looking for a mainly/partly guest-post driven blog.

And - at the end of the day - writing "for free" for a blog (from which you don't profit) isn't that different from writing "for free" for a forum like Dakkadakka (from which you don't profit) or .. to scale it up even higher, creating content (writing, photos, data) "for free" for sites like Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, Tumblr, etc.., (all of which won't share their profits with you either).
