The second amendment has already been used as intended within the United States.

Well depends on your definition. Government over reaching and being swatted down by the citizenry? I remember a couple examples out west earlier in our history. Government over reaching and getting away with it because people were unarmed and couldn't fight back? Depending on you point of view the Massacre at Wounded Knee (290 unarmed civilians murdered). There was also the Ludlow Massacre where company guards for Colorado mines, assisted by Colorado Militiamen (official ones, this is before the National Guard was a thing), opened fire with rifles and machineguns on striking miners. (Colorado's mines had some of the worst work conditions in the country at the time). The strikers responded by organizing and attacking the mines, driving off company guards and the militia in open combat. The fighting ended when Woodrow Wilson sent in federal troops, who disarmed both sides and arrested the militia men and strikers. No one was every really convicted of anything, but it had a massive impact on labor relations in the US, catching the eye of John D. Rockefeller who began to improve living conditions in his mining towns, and established the company union for his mines.

Today, I learned that you could be a seasoned university teacher and be slowed enough to give Kaczynski's manifesto as a lecture to a crowd as unstable as 1st year philosophy students.
I also learned, from the same seminary, that hatred is a good thing, and that because of it, the Holocaust was a much more humane event than the bombing of Hiroshima.

That's an argument that could be made by a sociologue, an historian, even a strategist, and could be perfectly true.

Not really. An action is either good or bad according to its own merits, the fact that it was undertaken with hatred does not alter its quality.
