The second amendment has already been used as intended within the United States.

It's not exactly something you learn about in school, and let's be honest most gun owners aren't the studious type to look for it. They have to be led to water.

Well depends on your definition. Government over reaching and being swatted down by the citizenry? I remember a couple examples out west earlier in our history. Government over reaching and getting away with it because people were unarmed and couldn't fight back? Depending on you point of view the Massacre at Wounded Knee (290 unarmed civilians murdered). There was also the Ludlow Massacre where company guards for Colorado mines, assisted by Colorado Militiamen (official ones, this is before the National Guard was a thing), opened fire with rifles and machineguns on striking miners. (Colorado's mines had some of the worst work conditions in the country at the time). The strikers responded by organizing and attacking the mines, driving off company guards and the militia in open combat. The fighting ended when Woodrow Wilson sent in federal troops, who disarmed both sides and arrested the militia men and strikers. No one was every really convicted of anything, but it had a massive impact on labor relations in the US, catching the eye of John D. Rockefeller who began to improve living conditions in his mining towns, and established the company union for his mines.

This is why we have the second amendment.

Why workers specifically? Seems more like a victory for the system. A statement that corruption can and will be removed by force if necessary.

Given your track record dogma, it's not suprising that your comment was taken as snide rather than humourous.
Grey Templar isn't any less for not 'getting' it.

And the definition of that is regular citizens skilled in the use of firearms that they own.

In the context in which the Constitution and Bill of Rights were written, yes.

And no the National Guard and Reserves, as standing forces don't count. There's plenty of jurisprudence to back that view up courtesy of SCOTUS.

+1 for RAI.

Well, if the Topic isn't just about whatever is the Battle of Athens...
Today, I learned that you could be a seasoned university teacher and be slowed enough to give Kaczynski's manifesto as a lecture to a crowd as unstable as 1st year philosophy students.
I also learned, from the same seminary, that hatred is a good thing, and that because of it, the Holocaust was a much more humane event than the bombing of Hiroshima.
I learned many things today, which I wish I could unlearn.

While Hatred can be a good thing, the bit about the Holocaust is very VERY false.
The Atom Bomb was the best way to end the war with the least lives lost.

That's an argument that could be made by a sociologue, an historian, even a strategist, and could be perfectly true.
But the argument that a human emotion such as hatred makes the murder of millions any better than the cold calculation of 'dropping a bomb on this and that' is just, well... That's the kind of stuff you should be slapped for saying.
I have to attend the entire seminary, and I feel it's going to be a very long 3 months...

It of course depends entirely on what the Hatred is directed towards.

Its good to know that even the Founders understood the need to regulate firearms.

Not really. An action is either good or bad according to its own merits, the fact that it was undertaken with hatred does not alter its quality.

Life does not cease to be funny when people die any more than it ceases to be serious when people laugh.

It's also good to know that not all forms of slavery are monstrous.
I'd be an excellent slave-owner.

First Kovnik, I'm going to so quote that out of context the next chance I get. Second that class sounds like rubbish.

It is. And I only have myself to blame, I should have known better the second he quoted Adorno's famous "writing poetry after the shoah is obscene'' and just ran out of the class.
