I feel embarrassed to ask this question because I should know the answer but I just want to be sure. Are the chaos black and the white primer paints from citadel considered enamel or lacquer paints? The reason I ask is cuz I will be priming soon and I don't have the option to go outside because of the temperature so I will be doing it in my garage and I wanna buy a respirator so I can prime safely in an enclosed area. The box of the respirator says it protects against "spray painting of lacquers, enamels, solvent welding and gluing, pesticides, and fertilizers". Am I safe to do this?

They're neither of these things, as far as I know? I think they're just acrylic primer, I'd still suggest doing it in a well ventilated area, since the propellant is pretty dangerous IIRC.

There, now I agree.

There's really nothing special about the Citadel "primer" sprays, aside from their price tag. They adhere no better, protect no better, provide no better tooth, and are no more caustic than the cans of flat color you can pick up for a buck at Walmart. A respirator is a good idea if you're going to be doing this for an extended period (or very frequently) while in a fully enclosed space, but I'd consider it overkill if you'll just be doing a few quick sprays and walking away to let the models dry, especially if your garage is spacious and/or drafty. If you still want to use the mask, by all means do (no harm in precaution, within reason) - it should handle the fumes just fine, judging by the label.

Awesome. Thanks to both of you for the feedback.
