Hello gang!

Well, my flavor of marines just got a new book and toys, soo....

However, while I find many of the new DA models to be amazing (oh, why couldn't the marine mosquito look like the nephilim?) - I am just not liking the Vengeance - not sure if its the gun copula in the front or what....

I am considering converting one of my normal land speeders and wanted to ask a few opinions.

* I think the Vengeance is bigger - do you think other players would care? While I don't think its that much bigger, I don't want to be accused of modeling for advantage.
* I was thinking about picking up the plasma bits on ebay and making some kind of turret in the back...ideas?
* this is not about saving cash, or anything like that, so please no "just suck it up and buy the model" I don't like the looks of the thing
* I would just mount the bolter/assault canon on the front, or side...so it would be a close match.
* I might add extra engines (I can scrounge something up) any suggestions?

Overall, I am surprised I have not seen any conversions for the thing yet....then again, I also think it *might* be a terrible unit, so maybe I should just proxy one for a few months.

Thoughts, suggestions, comments?

thanks in advance for anything constructive ! (for or against).

I had a close look at the sprues and I think the Vengeance hull is a touch larger than the normal landspeeder, however the main difference in size are the outrigger engine pods. I had already done a conversion with external anti-grav plates, so it was easy enough to add some plasma goodness

I think it's quite a bit bigger than the normal speeder in length and height. Your conversion is looking great, but it is quite a bit smaller by at least a half a length. The Vengeance is wider as well with outside engines and longer wings.

Is it just me, or does this remind anyone else of the Delorian from Back to the Future: Part II?

Great conversion, none the less!

Thanks for the responses so far....

Anyone have any exact measurements on this thing?

If I do end up getting the kit, I will prolly convert it a bit anyway...(don't like the front gun pod....).

thanks again!

Peronally I like it, the only thing I would do differently is the front anti grav plates, to have them at the same angle as the rear.
And SoloFalcon1138. Why does it look horrible? How can he change it to make more pleasing to the eye? What can he add? If your going to be critical add some constructivity, you know....Constructive Criticism

I like the conversion, but not the spindly grav-plates so much. I think it looks good, but it's still too small to be a Vengeance.

As posted above, a Land Speeder Storm is a much longer hull, which might be useful?

Does anyone else wonder how a Space Marine could fit comfortably in the front of the Vengeance?

As for converting one, could you use the Land Speeder Storm?
The length of both models look about the same (I'm just guessing this from looking on the GW website). You could close off the rear troop compartment with plastic card and maybe mount the plasma cannons on the top using the weapon mount from the Razorback. You could then mount assault cannons on the side or the bottom and it would look better then having a Space Marine hanging off the front.

You could use the storm chassis, and where it has its open troop bay, build some form of rotary device, with three plasma coils, giving the suggestion that they rotate to a fixed cannon barrel above the cockpit. It has larger engines at the back, and you could extend/add extra fins at the stern...

The base model is a conversion of a Starcraft 2 Diamondback which I think works pretty well. fair enough if you don't like the aesthetic. I just added the plasma mount because it was an easy thing to do with the existing top turret mount. My normal opponents are also not too strict on such things.
