Has anyone tried this yet? Put Azreal with a blob squad, and the whole squad gets a 4++. Seems like a cheap way to keep azreal protected, while getting bikes and terms as troops.

But you can still snipe Azreal out of the group - or challenge him.

So I assume you are allying in the IG, because he only makes them troops in the primary detachment.

That's why you have 5 sarge's waiting around to jump in front of him for challenges and 50 ablative wounds to look out sir for him.

Yeah; sniping really isn't that big of a deal.

I'm not convinced the 4++ is that hot yet, though. He seems too pricey.

If he could cast prescience as well, then maybe it'd be worth it, but as is; meh.

It is the world's ultimate meatshield though. Make em send in the next wave conscripts and you have a never ending stream of +4 invuln guardsmen as long as you're smart enough to pull the DA guy away when you're about to blam the conscripts.

But with conscripts you lose the ability to counter a challenge because they don't have SGT's

Statistically, you will almost certainly die when assaulting a well-maintained fortress with a competent commander. You must strive to make your death useful.

Your foe is well equipped, well-trained, battle-hardened. He believes his gods are on his side. Let him believe what he will. We have the tanks on ours.

Exactly. Don't forget the sarge's can all take power axes.

And, yes, Azreal would be in your primary detachment. Take a mix of bikes and terms, I suppose. Maybe a guard flyer.

I imagine someone could come up with a decent list based around this idea. I mean, if that Tony guy could win a tournament with a 5+ cover save from Njal on all of his guardsman - how can a 4++ save fail you?

It was more of a joke just because I thought it would be hilarious to watch the guy have a never ending supply of meatshields.

The regular platoon infantry squads combined are obviously far superior.

Maybe for big games... Otherwise he is too pricey for what he brings to the fight in an IG army that thrives on being cheap point wise.
