Was thinking of ordering a bunch more stuff, but now, honestly, I think I'll grab a set of striders and call it a day with Deadzone.

Now to get in a proper game and finish painting my current factions!

I had assumed so too, but enough people had asked the question so I thought it was worth pointing out a final, solid answer. I was surprised that given the software for the survey they could add images to the survey after the fact so I guess there was a slight chance that they could add additional sprues.

The Swordspawn looks excellent in the concept art, but I will wait for retail on that.

Right, but they were in the survey, so it makes sense that they are in the survey. The single sprues weren't in the survey, so why would you think they would be in the survey?

I understand about the zombies being in the survey, but its not like mantic haven't changed things before. They had the opportunity to add them on if they wished.

I does seem like a missed opportunity for the backers to pick them up at a discount before they hit retail. I'll bet that the wont be limited to the dz starter set on release and will be available as a seperate boxset on their web store.


Rather disappointing that im limited to picking up multiple boosters with alot of duplicate figures or waiting and paying full retail price.

Last update had an error, the mining laser is back in the booster bundle.

Quick at news, no hope at rumours

I'm going to be getting a ton of plastic Enforcers...
they're converting my individually purchased Enforcers from survey 1 into like 2 or 3 for 1. So with my two enforcer sets and two booster bundles and the single-restic-pose-to-sprue conversions I'm getting like 12 or more sprues. And those sprues have a TON of options. I'm a happy panda right now. All my AW vehicles will have their supporting infantry...

I'm gonna leave the individual models they added for retail. I always wanted a Jotunn or three, but they occasionally get down to $15 or better each and I'm not overly impressed by the siege shield or dwarf wang cannon.

I need to go resubmit, think I'll get the 4pack zombies, 10 peacekeepers (if you can use more I'll get o have fun hunting them at retail), 6 striders because they're neat d that's 2 warpath units of them, the new terrain bundle, connector bundle just because...maybe the marauder variety bundle.

I've come down a bit from previous estimates but I bet it still comes close to $200 once I add I whatever I missed.

Hmm yeah, I forgot about the dead figures, ordered the thermal/fusion enforcer anyway just because, and found at least one or two other things to get. Oh, goblin stuntbot too why not.

Am i the only one who thinks the idea of the Sorak Swordspawn is completely ridiculous? it just looks insanely impracticable with almost no room to actually maneuver, and i can't help but think it would most likely amputate its hands (Or feet?) every time it swings the blades.

IMO Mantic should've chosen a much more suitable Rebel race to be the Melee trooper, I'd have preferred a Sphyr melee model myself but literally every other race would've been a better fit than the Sorak. (Even the Zee's...)

I can't believe they didn't give the Yndij a big combat knife, or something. They're natural hunters and while they can handle guns and stuff now it seems like they'd pounce on things in their history. Plus agile +ap1/brawler/both would give some serious punch. The sworak is probably going to be mediocre at combat at best.

Yeah, I think I'm gonna wind up throwing in for Forge Fathers and Asterians just because we have like two months to pay this, plus 2-4 more sets of terrain, Peacekeepers, zombies, and a couple of the cooler add on characters. All in response to a) playing Deadzone finally and it's great and b) most of it's multipurpose for generic sci fi gaming.

It's the Rebs:

It has nothing to do with who the most qualified is, but whose the most willing. It's a freaking alien. If Sorak culture has a history of melee preference, then that's what they'll throw out on the battlefield.

From everything we are getting, the Sphyr aren't a huge piece of the Rebs. They more then likely will be getting their own faction, just like they did in Dreadball.

I vaguely remember reading in some KS update that the restic Enforcers starter that came with was only meant as a (free) giveaway solution and that the pledge actually included a set of hard plastic enforcers which would be sent out with the second run. I'm not really willing to go through 139 updates to find the info (and the possible retraction made 4 weeks after) - am I remembering that correctly?

yes you are.

The Rebs definitely need to have something good at melee in their troopers section. The yndij just has slightly better fight, but only a rifle and no brawler.

It's Kraaw or nothing if you want melee Rebs, and you really do need melee Rebs, they have to get up close, grab crates, run off the end of the board etc.

Campaigns are murder if you don't focus on melee, the rank 1-4 skill chart is basically 100% melee skills with the exception of spotter as the only one that helps shooting.

I haven't really felt much of a draw to use the Rebs still, and my plague is a mix of shooting and melee, as is my marauder force. My enforcers are straight up "one-shot, one-kill" ranged specialists. With the exception of the commander, who has played Super Smash Bros way too many times. "Falcon PUNCH!!"

I'm ok with the Sorak having blades... I just wish they did it for the Yndij too since he'd be innately better at it. Take away the rifle for a pistol, grant ap 1 or brawler, probably 'good enough'.

Do the dead figures have the same 'not showing up' problem that the swordspawn has? If i don't get any (or a charge for any) I'll be cool with it, just wasn't sure what the story was there.

At least I got a order summary email the same night as I submitted.

I wish I'd gone in for individual models for the FF in the first survey but I figured I'd have the same options in the second survey since they said everything in the first survey will be in the second. I'm not to happy with mantic right now actually since it feels almost like getting punished for not giving them my money blindly.

Ah, I see. Yeah, when they shipped Deadzone wave one they stated

Thanks for posting the large picture I was looking at the tiny image in the newsletter and couldn't find the large version. Mantic's Dave must be sick of painting terrain at this stage!

Nice setup. For those of us only perpipherally following Mantic stuff, what is that battlezone? Is that a pledge level, retail product, fan creation, etc?

It's a mixture of all of their hard plastic battlezone sets, which are a set of sprues with building tiles and connectors to put them together however you want... similar to 40k city of death sets, only with better variety, sci-fi rather than gothic and priced a lot lower (you get about twice as much in the box).

Core worlds, fortifications, landing pad, ruins.

Everything in the pic is a retail product other than the board its standing on (and even then, you can get a custom hard plastic board made by Secret Weapon).
