Hi All

I've been playing Deathwing for about a year and a half now and have been waiting eagerly for the Belial model to come out, and now that its out I actually really dislike it. I've been thinking about running the DW sergeant from Dark Vengeance as a counts as for him and its all WYSIWYG, but what I'm worried about is that the model is a bit too popular and could easily get confused.

What do you guys think, and would you mind if I used the DV sergeant as Belial?

As long as you don't use several of that model on the tabletop at once, I'm not sure why there would be any confusion as long as you declare at the start of the match that he is your Beliar.

I personnaly built mine using the Sergeant from the DW Command Squad (the left handed one with the sword-point on the ground) and gave him the tabard with the cowl+rebreather head included (but that's mainly because I hate Marines without helmets and I hate painting skin), added the cape and the "wings" plus one or two small bits. It now makes a very nice Belial that is heavy enough with details to still stand out from the other guys

More importantly, can I make Sammael count as Dooooooom Rider?

A friend of mine who plays DA has converted his own Belial from the FW Commander Culln model.




Looks pretty good.

As long as you only have one in the army no one will be confussed and you should be fine.

If you really want to avoid confussion you can paint/write his name of the front face of his base.

All of the SCs other than Sammael and Asmodai (and he can be done with pretty minor conversion work on the LE chappy) are represented with models from the DV set (the war gear options match up perfectly). As others have said, as long as you don't include more than one of that particular model, you should be good.

As long as its obvious and you are clear with your opponent, it doean't really matter.

@Praxiss - I had seen that model and thought it would make a really cool conversion, but I think that my sergeant should do for now, that is a good alternative though.

I'm not going to run another of the same model and so it should do until i find a better alternative. Thanks guys

I'm very torn for my counts-as Belial between a construction from the Command Squad (very similar to TanKol's), or my Sergeant Lorenzo figure from Space Hulk 3e.

Either way, it'll be a unique model in my army that follows WYSIWYG, so it really can't be mistaken for any other model it will be fielded alongside, which is the main concern to eliminate with a counts-as. Otherwise, you're golden.

The Sergent from Dark Vengeance is certainly dynamic enough to be a HQ character.

His pose is way off, I don't think most people would have an issue with you using a proxy.

Maybe for a friendly game this would be sortof ok, but in any tournament you will get laughed off the board with this. This model does not have any of the legal weapon loadouts for Belial.

I made my Belial from parts in the GK Terminator, Deathwing Squad and Chaos Terminator Lord sprues.

I'll post it up soon.

I personally use a conversion of the TH/SS guy from Space Hulk.

I don't play in tournaments anyway, so why would I care. Also its consistent with the rest of my terminator force, is distinctive and its only really missing a sword. Anyway, the C14 Impaler has an integral, internal bayonet so thats where my "Belial" keeps his close combat weapon




He's got Ravenwing support as well
