Obviously if you compare WL to the likes of other companies (oh you know the ones ) then no matter what WL is going to look cheaper. And their plastics are usually almost always cheaper compared to metals so this notion that they are wanting to gouge people does sound a bit of a non issue. However some disgruntled TMPers notice the bit of price jump compared to their other sets on Warlord's upcoming Republican Romans, and the fact that (compared to their imperial ones) that they separated the pilums and gladius into 2 sets seemingly forcing people to buy multiple sets

Is WL starting to hike prices? Any ideas on why the prices may have been rising? (aside from global economics or whatever that could cause prices to rise no matter the product) Is this separation of weapons a sound idea, or a way to get people to buy more when they have demonstrated they could have a set of both gladius and pilum romans?

Hmm, you are right. Prices are starting to rise a bit.

Personally, I think Warlord is starting to notice what they can do. They know that they can charge a bit more, and still get lots of buyers because they are still cheaper. So, if you know you can get a bit more money out of something without losing out why not? Otherwise, who knows.

The separation of weapons is a bit greedy in my opinion, however I won't complain because it's still gonna end up cheaper than some other companies (and that's why they can charge just a bit more. Because people think that way)

I think it needs to be kept in perspective - from Warlord you can buy characters for less than 2GBP and, what is it, 140 models odd in the starter set for less than 60GBP for the Romans? If anything they are too cheap, if such a thing is possible! People get suspicious.

Well, I mean the Warlord figures are nice but when you're dealing in historical figures it's pretty much impossible to price gouge. I'm starting up in 20mm models, and I'm looking at a Roman army of around 200 figures for ~$100.

I know there's issues with scale and so on, but there's simply so many manufacturers out there...

"Did you ever notice how in the Bible, when ever God needed to punish someone, or make an example, or whenever God needed a killing, he sent an angel? Did you ever wonder what a creature like that must be like? A whole existence spent praising your God, but always with one wing dipped in blood. Would you ever really want to see an angel?"

While I'm not a fan of the new romans crossing the 1/1 model to dollar ration, I actually don't get the getting upset over the two different sets for the pilum and gladius. I mean, you still are only going to make one model, and people aren't going to magnitize models that small. So unless you wanted to make just 12 of each or something, it doesn't seem like it would matter.

In case you hadn't noticed inflation is rocketing - maybe not officially but when horse meat is being sold as beef, you know that printing money like it's going out of fashion is not working.

Anywho, having just bought the Imperial starter army for £25, instead of £60 - because it wasn't selling - I would suggest that this is not 'gouging' but seeking to recoup investment.

I fear the airfair might make the deal a little uneconomical.

That's an amazing deal! No stores near me unfortunately, but definitely worth a phone call.

Yes them and Fireforge charge more than their competitors in plastic. (Perry, Victrix, Conquest, Wargames Factory, and Gripping Beast are all cheaper)

On the other hand their plastics cover eras that none of the others cover. (in plastic) Also they are eras that really lend themselves to plastic. (I need how many Zulus?)

Four scholars at Oxford were making their way down the street, and happened to see a group of ladies of the evening. “What’s this?” said the first. “A jam of tarts?” “Nay,” said the second, “an essay of Trollope’s.” “Rather, a flourish of strumpets,” advanced the third. “No, gentlemen,” concluded the last. “Here we have an anthology of pros.”
