I actually thought about doing a sentinel as I have one still in the box, but as I'm going more towards Word Bearer's the ultra marine ish Dread was more appropriate.
And speaking of cheaper basing, my Crusader's base has Chaos cultists running about on it... doesn't get any cheaper than that lol.

Someone actually posted a link to my build thread a few pages back, but here is the model: (I never actually got around to taking pictures after finishing the base, so I might try to do that tonight)

Not sure what bbb means exactly.

I thought you were fairly clear that you didn't want to shell out $140 or whatever a knight is just to put it on a base as scenery.

Yes, but what bbb meant was that he could do a kickstarter to amass funds to purchase a Knight. I think.

Kickstarter is (in theory) a platform for funding artistic projects that otherwise would not be able to be produced.

Since you want to make something artistic, but cannot afford to do so, then maybe you could run a small Kickstarter to finance the project. You could offer a simple reward of something like a picture of the completed model or a handwritten thank you card.

I just think it's something that should be done and if I wasn't so broke right now I'd gladly contribute to the cause.

I also love the idea of someone running a kickstarter to finance something silly like this. The important thing would be to run it in such a way that it doesn't run the risk of a GW Lawyer attack.

Ohhhh... I get it now. It's funny I see your point, but with how most kickstarter projects are these days I think of it as more of a small business-investor start up funding site.
Something to think about I guess, but would people really donate money to something like that?

Many, myself included, prefer the Hanomags over that Abomination GW calls the Taurox. And as the Hanomags also have variant models, those too! Taurox does look childish in design and execution.

Not a biggy, but I believe the second use of part G9A and B in the 15mm crusader instructions should be G10A and B, just FYI. Didn't even notice on the first one, but did on the second build.

I dont think it's bad form, Mark.

Its like they seriously took your Hanomag and tried to 40k Derp it up. And made it a complete mucking mess.

But unfortunately, it might still sell because gamers are not known for their sensibility and patience.

Incorrect. It may sell because gamers may not be aware of the APC DFG are releasing soon

That or they play at a GW store..

As I said in the AM/IG thread, I think the thing looks like it could be pressed into service (with wheels, not those stupid quad tracks) in my renegade/chaos IG army. But that's mostly because it looks like a pressed into service truck, not because it looks like a battlefield vehicle.

The DFG APC, on the other hand, is the sex.

I think the only reason why people keep buying GW is because they are the biggest name out there athat everyone has rules for(no matter how broken the rules are now). If the iron core rules get out there and are streamlined, then I think mark may have a chance of dethroning the beast which is GW. Mantic has decent rules, but the models are only meh in comparison to GW. Marks models blow GW away, and a decent set of rules will put a last stake in the heart of GW. I used to love GW, WAY WAY WAY back when the games were fun and not just about the biggest beat stick unit or newest codex, what's there now is pitiful, and the only reason I keep up To date on them is the black library books, which have switched formats and made it harder to love even that .

In short, get the rules out there and the. Get more models and you will have the old GW fanboys throwing money at you.

The thing is that its not just GW now as WM/H has taken up arms across many a FLGS now its like Warmahordes is basically a PP store just as much as a GW is a GW store, so they really need to work hard to get through both systems to become a really dominant game imo..

Please. Try to maintain some form of a grip on reality. This has a less than zero chance of happening and we all know that. You're in danger of going full fanboi here, and isn't helpful to anyone - particularly your credibility. As stated above, WMH hasn't managed that either, despite a very tight ruleset and decent models.

As someone who has sunk almost a grand into DFG, and am very interested in the models (especially in getting the ones I paid for back in 2012 in hand) I'm not in the slightest bit concerned about yet another ruleset made by a tiny company. I'm not averse to using a different ruleset for my spaceman fights, but should that happen, it needs to be easily adaptable to the many, many 40k figures I already own, and has to be sufficiently better in order for me to bother learning it. Kings of War is a good example in the fantasy genre, though you'll notice that despite my liking it, Mantic hasn't exactly dethroned WFB, even just in terms of rulesets.

I'll also say this - Mark's models are very nice. They don't "blow away" GW's best, though - not by a long shot. They take a crap on GW's poor models, sure. But GW's good models take a crap on their poor models as well. There's not much that doesn't look better compared to the Taurox or whetever the stupid thing is called. Does the Leviathan look awesome? Yes it does. Does the Imperial Knight look awesome? Yes, it does. Neither of those is "blowing away" the other, though I personally like the Knight more than the Mortis. Similarly, the Eisenkern aren't "blowing away" my plastic, metal or resin marines anytime soon, but they're still very good models. Would I buy a Taurox? That's ....unlikely. Would I buy one of Mark's Hanomags? Let's see how much they cost (And if we get that promised coupon and the ability to ship from China - I might buy a half-dozen of them or more.)

So maybe less hyperbole and a more realistic discourse would better serve all of us and Mark as well.

For now, I'm just using what I have and will save some cash towards these APC models.

Compared to the "other" new to the shelf - these fit the mold and are more pleasing to the eye.

I totally agree with your pic-enhanced point, Mark. I thought the exact same thing when I was looking over the pics on GW's site for the Taurox. So much like a kid's toy.
