Greetings all, I was down at my local little shop the other day talking about certain rules and how they should be taken. I will not get into details yet, really just about differences between 5th and 6th edition. I am more partial to 5th, but 6th did add some neat little things. But I am just wondering what all you folk think out there, is there anything you would like to see changed or worded differently? Any certain rules that makes you wanna flip the table over when it happens?

Of course there are. Problem is, before you change anything you still have to sit down and discuss it with your group since you may find that someone unexpectedly likes the rule change.

Personally, I dislike overwatch and hate challenges. Cinematic should be opt-in, not default.

I really need to stay away from the 40K forums.

Oh yeah, of course. I am not actually going to change any rules obviously. Just at times during our battles things arise and a rule is just there that causes upset for somebody, or multiple parties.

Out of the 5 others I play with 3 of us do not like Overwatch just like you stated. It does make sense to have the overwatch, I mean in real life if there is actually a group of soldiers sitting in the open and another group rushes them, they will of course begin firing at the enemy rushing. However, it makes me angered at times as I assault and, somehow my buddy rolls twelve 6's and I miss over half of the saves now I'm down to half squad strength in the assault.

As for the challenges, we actually never do them ourselves. The concept is neat, but it sucks when used to counter an HQ that has high or strong attacks that the user would want to see used against the masses and not just 1 guy. So I agree with you on that one Mahtamori!

My friends and I at our club don't play with Hull points or Challenges

We don't like the fact that an 250 point tank could be " glanced " to death

Challenges just don't really play with, most the time we forget to do them anyway

I utterly agree with you on the Hull points. I think that is just ridiculous. Since when does a vehicle have life points?! I always like to compare things to real life situations, and that seems to be my biggest issue. Yes this is a fantasy game, but come on. A giant ARMORED tank can be destroyed just by a couple glances that never actually penetrate the hull. I am actually gonna bring that up and next weeks game, see if they would be for that. There are a lot of little rules that we forget to utilize.

Another thing that rather discourages me is that axe's are now Initiative 1. How is it that a regular 1 handed sword is regular, but a regular 1 handed axe is Initiative 1? I would be more for if any weapon that is 2 handed is unwieldy, but a simple 1 handed weapon? Hammers are understandable as well, but really, an axe.....foolish.

they're power weapons. a regular Axe, Mace and Sword are the same, only the irregular souped up versions differ. I'm sure you're well aware of that, I'm just correcting your choice of words...

I am not trying to turn this into a rules debate, but in 6th edition ALL of the power weapons fit as either a sword, lance, axe, mace, or unique, and they all have separate rules, so yes, ANY power axe strikes at initiative 1.

oh, I meant that it read like he was calling a Power Axe a Normal Axe but I imagine in-universe that only 1 out of 100 soldiers ever has a Power Weapon of any sort. I don't think a Power Axe is...
a simple 1 handed weapon
