Huh? Just how are you assembling it to do that? Every one I have seen would fall apart under its own weight if you did not use glue.

Frequently.

I haven't bought a new 40k model in a few years now and my High elf army is getting towards an OOP model army as well.

Whilst I don't use superglue on my own plastic models, the craze of using it on plastic models by others is a godsend. It's child's play to disassemble it, clean it up and reglue it properly.

It's also the reason I get these things for a steal. $20 for a land raider? Yes please (beats over $80 - probably $100 by now, haven't bought one new in years) because it has been crappily superglued together.

I got a Drop pod for $15 because it was like this. It fell onto my concrete driveway while unpacking from the car - and fell into several parts. Made cleanup and reassembly soooo easy.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).

By putting it together. No, really, it just stays that way. Of course it can be handled so that it falls apart, but generally it doesn't if you grab it by both sides instead of just one side, etc. The only glue I've used in my Rhinos, Razorbacks or the Vindicator is to attach the tracks and headlights on the first one, the rest don't have those bits in place yet as I've found that painting vehicles black causes brain cancer.

For Predators the sponsons do have to be glued - not to the hull, but the overhanging assembly to the side door thing. And so on. The hatches, doors and such I just use a little blu-tack on to keep them in place, yet making them easy to swap when making configuration changes. Much easier than using magnets, and doesn't damage the model - which is why I often wonder why people use magnets for things like these that blu-tack does better. But I digress. The hull itself remains assembled essentially on its own. No real plans to glue them, as especially after painting the parts separately (thus kind of adding to the thickness of the parts) the fit is really quite snug and firm. Originally I didn't glue because I wanted to paint the interior too (still do) but didn't want to do it yet (and still haven't).

This ease of assembly and needing very little to no glue is why I love assembling Rhinos. If only the same was true with the painting part, but that's a problem with all 40k vehicles so far.

The one for me thag leaps to mind is a Devceiver I bought for converting into a Laughing God Cegorach.

The picture in the auction, I thought was just blurry and bad quality, but when it arrives turned out it had been painted... well, it looked like someone had bought a tub of poundland gold paint, and either dipped it in, or just upended the pot/tube over the model.

Ok, fine, prolly some kids old or really early work.
Give it a month in dettol, pulling it out every few days to scrub / peel the next bit of paint away, effectively slowly flaying it.

So after 3-4 weeks, the paints gone.
It's at this point I discover it's been glued together with what was either a nomorenails type product, or some sort of epoxy resin.
Proceed another week of slowly soaking and chipping at that crap.

I eventually got it clean (though the base was a writeoff), but at that point I was so sick of looking at it, the now as-new Deceiver got dropped into my bitz-box around a year ago and sits there mocking me still.

Should probably actually do the conversion I bought it for. :p
