I am finishing Deliverance Lost and orgininally decided to skip over the Outcast Dead, i was just wondering peoples opinions on it, whether to go back and read it or continue onto Know no Fear?

Why wouldn't you read it? Not sure why we need a 'should I read X book' thread for every HH book...

Okay, but there are these crazy things called libraries where you can borrow books for free.

Personally, I didn't care for Outcast Dead: I found the story, action and characters predictable, boring or basically unbelievable - with the exception of the main character. I liked the insights into the Emperor and astropath/life on terra stuff, although sometimes confusing.
I'm tempted to go back and read it again, but I can't really bring myself to do it...
Know No Fear was good though.

Which takes time.
Also, I almost never find a 40k book at the library, personally.
Know No Fear was... Okay IMO, the characters were pretty cool, the best part of the book being the first few minutes of the attack on Calth, but it also had one of the most insulting retcons in 40k IMHO.

I bloomin loved it for some juicy tidbits and warporn in it and also some good background on the pskers on terra and whatnot. The only way you will know for sure is just to read it. my local library has a copy which is handy

If you're referring to the 500 worlds of Ultramar (and I can't think of anything else in the book that could be considered as such) then it's pretty obvious that those worlds are going to become the homeworlds of the many many Ultramarine successor chapters.

But it is an option for some.

I think he's referring to Ollanius Pious, once an ordinary Guardsman, now an immortal hero. I tend to ignore that part, which is a shame, since KNF is one of my favourite books. Not just HH books either, books in general.

Personally I enjoyed it, although it did feel a bit like a filler book, in that it didn't really have any impact on the Heresy in it entirety, but you'd kick yourself if it ends up having an impact later XD

It was ok, had some cool bits in it, but currently has one of the biggest mistakes of all the books, if not the biggest.
More than likely the explanation is going to be 'the warp did it' which will be a terrible cop out.

I've checked my library for 40K books numerous times, and thus far they have never had any. Not all libraries have a wonderful collection of incredibly niche science-fiction fantasy. Please stop saying silly things.

Then the library you frequent is bad and you should not visit it ever, ever, ever again. Mine has an extensive selection of Black Library publications, not that I chose to go there very often, I can afford to purchase books and don't need to mingle with the poor

Have you talked to the librarians and asked them if they could carry Black Library books? Libraries are generally made to serve their community. If there is a demand for a book, they will often try to get it. Not to mention that many libraries have inter-library agreements which allow you to check out books from neighboring libraries.
Check to see if your library has a website and then do some catalog searching. You may be surprised.

I found it a fairly enjoyable read, until I got to the end. Then I asked myself what the heck the point of the whole book was. (I had the same reaction to Deliverance Lost.)
The various time-line inconsistencies others have commented on didn't bother me as much. Nor did the problems with characterization, etc. The way I look at it, time-line inconsistencies are due to the use of conflicting sources with imperfect memories, corrupted data storage, etc. As for characterization, I don't EXPECT such things from 40K books. So any time I actually get it, it's a bonus.

It's not a bad book, just not one that I found to be interesting for what I prefer to read. Deliverance Lost and Know No Fear are both a lot more interesting. I found it took me longer to read it, then the other two combined.

Thought it was ok - the stuff about the Thunderwarriors was interesting I thought but it had some serious plot holes in it along with a few "uhmm what moments".
Pilau can back me up on that one (jail escape scene?!).

It certainly had a few of those moments, the Jail escape and the vacant angel are two that stand out.
