ok a dumb question... but i havent played GK in a long time

with an maellus inquisitor, i can swap his armor and weapons for a termie armor, hammer and storm bolter. (the hammer is a force weapon)

it then says that i can "upgrade to a lvl 1 psyker, for x pts, exchanging "any one weapon for a for a force sword"

so does this mean that i can not have a psyker inquisitor in termie armor with a hammer?

working off page 44 of the GK codex.

apologies if this answered elsewhere or in the FAQ...please point me to the proper documents if this answer already exists. cheers.

You can in fact have a Inquisitor in Termie armor and a Demonhammer.

He will not have a Storm bolter, but he will have a Demonhammer and a force weapon.

Remember it says: "upgrade to a lvl 1 psyker, for x pts, exchanging "any one weapon for a for a force sword"

Any one weapon, the Storm Bolter is a weapon.

yea, the build i was shooting for was termie armor, hammer, psycannon and lvl 1.

guess thats not a legit build, so ill just not worry about the lvl 1, since i figure his main job will be shooting and filling the HQ slot.

This is out dated. The FAQ replaced the wording in the Ordo Malleus Inquisitor psyker upgrade to say that he 'may replace a weapon with the force sword'.

So yes you can have Lvl 1 Termie Inquisitor with Hammer and Psycannon.

Actually the FaQ says:

"Page 87 – Ordo Malleus, Hereticus and Xenos Inquisitors, Options, last bullet point. Change to: “[...]psychic power. He may exchange any one weapon for a force sword[...]”"

So since he may exchange any one weapon for a force sword that means it is optional.

Maybe we are saying the same thing. It seems that the OP interpreted your first response as saying that exchanging the force sword was not in fact optional. So he couldn't use his desired psycannon/hammer build. But with the FAQ wording this is legit.

Yes, you are saying the same thing - previously it was a requirement to endup with a sword, now you can choose to keep your weapons

Hammer + Psycannon is entirely legal

It's legal, but putting an initiative 1 weapon on a toughness 3 model is suicide. He'll die in almost any challenge against a character with 2 or more initiative before he gets chance to swing it! Looks way cooler on the model though.

If he is wearing terminator army only some special weapons like my beloved axe of blind fury or some DA can strike at full I and be AP2, anything that will pose a threat to the 2+sv is I1, so probably a double K.O.

honestly, the only reason i have a hammer on him, is first off its free, second, its for smacking tanks and whatnot with. ill eventually change it over to be a daemon weapon or some other such, but for now the hammer is sufficiant.

he will be atatched to other shooty units so his main role will be contributing psycannon shots to that unit. i dont expect them to reach CC, and i wouldnt really count on the inquisitor to do much if and when that happens. (the termie armor is to allow him to always fire at full power) - if i wanted a beatstick psycannon HQ choice id go towards the brother cap or grand master.
