I decided after some consideration to keep my IG ally detatchement chimera free for a start. I will be propably adding chimeras for the infantry squads and PCS later, but now will try them out without tanks at first.

Now to my question. I am not sure how to arm my PCS. my CCS will be riding in a vendetta armed with three meltaguns, but what to give the PCS that is basically just barking orders to the IG blob (3 squads combined with autocannons and possibly plasmas, or grenadelaunchers if i need to save points.) I was thinking that if the PCS will be sitting back and barking orders, should i give them 4 sniper rifles. I don't see much point in spending loads of points for plasmaguns and other options seem a bit of a waste. The idea at first was to give them four flamers and put them in a Chimera for a rush forward to purge an objective maybe, but that idea is out of the window now. The sniper rifles would come cheap and would turn them from being just a useless command squad to a command squad that can try to do some harm to enemy heavy weapons with some lucky shots (quite useless too, but better than nothing).

So should i just run them naked, or invest 20 points for sniper rifles?

I mainly will be allying them with Blood angels, but for games, where i will be using my CSM, Daemons or eldar, i will propably give them meltas and put them in the vendetta instead of the CCS and replace the CCS with a Lord Commissar that will be keeping the blob in check.

You can still give them flamers on foot to give your blob some close range assistance. I think flamers are cheap enough to take them as a defensive choice rather than needing to have them on the offensive. Also sniper rifles just aren't any good. I tend to field a couple for fun, but they rarely do anything, especially at BS3

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

Pretty much this.

Or just throw an LC on them and hope they kill 55pts worth of tank before they get shot to gak.

Edit:
I've had them with an AC and man a Quad gun before, since the platoon commander has BS4.

4 flamers, behind an ADL screening your blob. With 2 PCs and 2 blobs i can get a pretty large area screened. With 2" spacing, enemies have to charge the PC to get into combat with the blob. Therefore, they have to disorganized charge or charge just the PC. If they shoot the PC, g2g as you can still overwatch the flamers from the ground or order them back up on your turn.

If you're using four flamers, remember to give the platoon commander a bolter so that you can allocate wounds beyond the 9" template range. 52 points instead of 50, but probably worth it.

Or they could just shoot the 5 t3 models and kill them before they're anywhere near charge range.

what about, if i arm the PCS with a mortar and place them in the back of the blob. They can dish out some mortar shells and bark orders to the blob?

If they're chilling in the back with a blob just give them a lascannon.

Keeps em cheap and gives em a decent chance of killing something without putting a giant "SHOOT ME" sign on it.

This. A lascannon with 3 ablative wounds isn't bad for 45 points.

One mortar is "meh" and orders should be handled by CCS.

I agree with the Lascannon suggestion.

I agree more with 4xflamers in a vendetta.

Remember the bolter! (Nobody responded and nobody mentions it...)

Meh. The laspistol on the sergeant usually proves to be plenty.

But sure; a bolter can't hurt.

I'm liking the flamer vendetta idea and the lascannon CCS shouting commands behind the blob. So will propably put my PCS with 4 flamers into the vendetta and the CCS with a lascannon behind the blob to shoot something and bark orders.
