I can't imagine its good, personally I hope he turned to Chaos and founded the Norse faction of war-hammer fantasy, if that's not the case hes being horribly tortured. Bad dog.

Like the great storm of the Horus Heresy, the forces of the True Gods will descend upon the Emperor's minions. The stars will tremble at their passage and the mighty armadas of the Warmaster Abaddon will bring annihilation to a hundred worlds. Know this, for these things will come to pass.

I think popular consensus is that he's in wulfen form and roaming the eye of terra, the wulfen form should protect him largely from the effects of chaos. The 13th company certainly don't believe him irretrievably lost and they are most likely to know!

I assume he's basically doing what Draigo does in the Warp, wandering around the Eye of Terror destroying Chaos forces non-stop. Magnus saying he's in a bad place could mean he got captured or something, but it could just as easily refer to simply being in the Eye of Terror.

I think it in part comes from the details concerning the Second Great Hunt where it

Led to the recovery of Russ' armour from the Temple of Horus on Rudra on the Edge of the Eye of Terra - Codex Space Wolves 2nd ed

And the reasoning behind it being why did he have no armour, because he turned into a big freakin' werewolf thing.

Aaaah OK - despite their never being any previous mention of Russ being able to turn Wulfen (AFAIK), and other plausible explanations being that he's captured/dead or running around kicking arse stark-naked?

Personally, I believe he's captured or lost.

But realistically, I doubt Russ even has an 'eventual fate': like the missing Legions, I don't imagine GW has actually made any decisions as to what happened to Russ, so their is no 'right' answer.

Well, it's the warp isn't and Space Wolf fans like their Wulfen. I think Russ abandoned his angry ways, ditched his armour and got it on with Fulgrim

They probably have some idea of what has happened to him and will reveal it when Space Wolves miniatures aren't selling so well.

I am inclined to think that Russ is chillin' with Khan. The two of them basically in perpetual serach of their Primarch Brothers who fell to Chaos.

However it's equally possible that they are just dead... written out. It was in bad taste, but GW killed of Rogal Dorn (my person favorite). They did that in the most petty, inglorious way possible, so they are clearly not above killin off other Primarchs... however poor a call it may be.

But then again, they change their minds all the time... in previous versions it was stated in no unclear terms that Lion El Johnson was gravely wounded and slowly recovering in fashion much like the Roboute the Arch Traitors.. er Ultramarines.

However in the new Codex is states quie clearly that he is alive and well, just waiting for the righ time to show himself... Hell they could all be chilling out playing pschic checkers with the Emperor for all we know.

About discarded armor thingy and Russ - this is momentarily the most popular version on warseer (amongst fanbois)

It’s simple the armor was slowing him down
Russ has spent the last 1000 years climbing up the throne of skulls with a chain axe between his teeth he’s about half way there

ADB: I showed the Wolves revealing the key weakness at the heart of the World Eaters; showing Angron that his Legion was broken and worthless compared to the others; that he was the one primarch who couldn't trust his own warriors, and that they didn't care if he lived or died; showing that loyalty to brothers and sons is the heart of success for the Legiones Astartes, to the point even Lorgar makes a big deal out of saying the World Eaters and their primarch were massively outclassed by Russ, and Angron was too stupid to see the lesson Russ had sacrificed time, sweat, and blood, to teach. We're talking about a battle the Wolves won, by isolating the enemy general through pack tactics, and threatening to kill him, without a hope of defending himself. It was a balance, 50/50 - Angron overpowered Russ, and the Wolves were losing ground to the World Eaters; but Russ and his warriors had Angron by the balls, and barely broke a sweat. They won, no question. Lorgar even says: "The Wolves won, meathead."

Dorn won’t help you either. He’s too busy being the Emperor’s groundskeeper, hiding behind the palace walls. The Wolf is too busy cutting off heads as our father’s executioner, while the Lion holds on to his secrets, and has no special fondness for you. Who else will come? Not Ferrus, certainly. Nor Corax either. Even as we speak, I suspect he flees for Deliverance. Sanguinius?’ Curze laughed cruelly. ‘The angel is more cursed than I. The Khan? He does not wish to be found. So who is left? No one, Vulkan. None of them will come. You are simply not that important. You are alone.’ Konrad Curze to Vulkan

Russ is in the Eye of Terror, looking for Magnus to break his back one more time. And Magus knows that, and knowing what horrors live in Eye of terror he made that comment.

The lore says that Russ is on quest to find cure for the Emperor, some kind of medicine or machine to restore his body and heal his wound. And that he will return one day when he finds it, I believe all other Primarchs are in search for that too.

This has been rewritten in new fluff, in one of new BL books it is sadi that IF after the battle found escape pod with Dorn's life sings in it. But in life pod they only found his power fist, and it is that power fist that is in IF fortress today. Whatever happened to hi mor where is his body - nobody knows ( so he is now missing like Vulcan ).

They have his body. It's encased in clear amber on the Phalanx. They use his hands to scribble on.
Dorn is dead. And it should stay that way if you ask me. That was solid.

I think the thing about the drop pod is BS made up by someone.

The IA and the flash forwards in the HH books both indicate Dorn still being dragged doww, eventually by wave after wave of chaos marines.

I know its not the greatest source but i was discussing Dorn with a GW staffer (a fellow fist player nontheless) and according to him Dorn died because he punched the warp core of the chaos ship he was on as there was no other way to stop it.

IIRC, the prologue to A Thousand Sons is Magnus basically rambling that he knows Russ is coming to kill him (in "present day" 40k). I could very well be wrong though. If I'm correct, this would imply he's still alive in the Eye of Terror and at the close of the 41st Millennium has almost reached Magnus.

If it is a Primarch I think it would make the most sense if it was Khan due to the 5E codex removing Necron FTL drives in favour of a special key to the eldar webway.
