Well, I need to learn that. I have no clue on the Convergence fluff, actually. Where can I find more about it ? No Quarter and Faction Book only ?

That lovely bit was from the Faction book. I'm not aware of any No Quarters that have further information in them (though I'm sure their are some).

And we've basically got confirmation of the new Hordes faction being Cephalyx, with this tweet from Matt Wilson and photo of what seems to be the heavy warbeast plastic kit.

See the @privateerpress Keynote at @TempleCon : Fri Feb7 10am EST & watch on http://twitch.tv/privateerpress for more of this! pic.twitter.com/5Q7srtL93X

I'm from the future. The future of space

I am so in. That's exactly the aesthetic that got me into Cryx way back when the mechanithralls were released.

Balance in pick up games? Two people, each with their own goals for the game, design half a board game on their own without knowing the layout of the board and hope it all works out. Good luck with that. The faster you can find like minded individuals who want the same things from the game as you, the better.

Hello new Dark Eldar Grotesques! Those look cool. So is it going to be a Cryx Hordes army? Not up on WMH fluff to know what would separate them out form the Cryx?

Ooh, giant mechanical monstrosities?

That picture is giving me Confrontation's Scorpion vibes. Color me interested.

Maybe I can lure Barzam to the way of the Hordes and away from those awful flaming white robed religious zealots with these guys.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

The Cephalyx aren't really a part of Cryx. They're an evil subterranean race of Hellraiser expies that enjoy experimenting on the surface races (Sort of clockwork Illithids, really) that cooperate with the Nightmare Empire for reasons unknown. There's not a lot of information on them at the moment, really, so a Forces of Warmachine book would expand greatly on their fluff. I'd expect at least a couple more models with Ally: Cryx, since the Drudges and Mindslavers both have it.

But yeah, the main difference is that Cephalyx stuff isn't undead, and there's a much stronger dark clockpunk vibe coming from them (think a straightjacket with spider legs, given concept art spoiled already). Again, expect more details and an actual announcement about Cephalyx come TempleCon and Privateer's keynote address.

Cool. Was googling Cephalys and came across this image:

If that is another fig, am excited, but think it fits more warmachine than hordes.

That would be the "straightjacket with spider legs" I was referring to. Best guess is that it's one of their warlocks. And yeah, they've got a much more steampunk aesthetic than most of Hordes, but the real defining factor is their predilection for lobotomizing their enemies and turning them into monsters for their own use, rather than just building giant stompy robots. Thus, Hordes.

That, and Privateer has been saying they're coming out with a new Hordes faction for a bit now, and Templecon is the usual place for them to announce that sort of thing these days.

Plus it's fairly credible that a GW marketing campaign for their biggest release would fit on one side of A4 - Flashman

Well, yes. That's from a League last year, same as the warlock. Kinda old news.

Convergence's rival is the Cephalyx, as shown in the fluff from last league.

There seems to be an older rivalry between them, but that could just be conjecture.

This may be the faction that gets me into Hordes. None of the existing Hordes armies keep my interest all that long but hopefully this one will.

Matt Wilson just posted what appears to be a resculpt of Goreshade.

Gunslinger's image is not showing up, how's this? The tweet in question.

I'm a bit confused; isn't the new Goreshade a cavalry model? Is he a dragoon? That would be... weird.

Dang, the Cephalyx have some serious potential. I love the super-twisted CoC vibe they have going on.

That figure makes me wonder if new Goreshade will be a dragoon as well.

That'd be a first for a caster, wouldn't it?

Sculpt looks cool. Anyone in particular's skull he's carrying there?

Goreshade, Lord of Ruin has rules in War Room and No Quarter already.
While he is really cool imo, there are no dragoon rules.

With the new factions coming out, think there might be a Prime 3.0 around the corner? PP should really try to unify the Warmachine and Hordes rules into one book. The steampunk ascetic showing up in Hoards is definitely blurring the line.

Doubt it. The guys at Privateer stated pretty firmly last June that a Mk.3 isn't in the works at the moment, and it'd certainly take them more than a year to rework the entire system again. That, and the system doesn't really need a reworking.

And the steampunk vibe doesn't really blur any lines. It's the same universe after all, and there's already plenty of steampunk in Hordes (Dr. Arkadius and his pigborgs spring to mind).

Pretty much this. Not to mention the two lines will remain seperate due to copyright and ownership concerns (who owns what copyright, who gets royalties etc)

Wait... copyright issues with PP? Are some with Matt Wilson and others with Privateer or what? Missed this.

I'm from the future. The future of space

PP started with three people with equity positions in the company (Wilson, Snoddy and Staroscik). I believe McVey also had an equity position at one point. Matt Wilson is the currently the sole owner. If there was ever an agreement with the other two about royalties or who knows what, then that will likely have been covered by any sort of buy out agreement that was put in effect when Wilson bought out the others. I'd hardly call theoretical conjecture about the details of a private buy out agreement a "copyright Issue".

The reasons why the Cephalyx work for Cryx aren't unknown at all, and are actually really simple. The Cephalyx let Cryx use their tunnel network, and in return the Cephalyx get a percentage of the battlefield prisoners as new slaves. There's also some sharing of tech resources and military power as well.

That... actually makes a lot of sense. I haven't read much if any league fiction, so I missed any reveals there, but Strakhov's story in the book he was introduced in pretty much spell this out almost verbatim. Not sure how I missed that. >.<

It's also in a story in Wraith I believe where Denny was killing some dudes, and after the fight the Ceph went to work gathering up any still living and patching their wounds and shuffling em off. Pretty sure one of em even talked to her about it.
