A big block of Marauders at that price is far too fragile to be viable. With zero defense and average T, massed S3 fire / template weapons immediately take your unit out of the game.

10 pts is too much. 8 points would have been fair, 6 is too low, 10 too expensive.

Just for the mathhammer:

20 Elven archers fire at 30'' and thus hit at 4s, 10 hits, wound on 4s, 5 wounds. 5 dead Marauders at 30''. Even if we assume a full march every turn, it still takes them ~2 shooting phases to get in reliable attack range. That's about 16 dead Marauders before they charge. Add another 11 dead Marauders when assaulting due to stand and shoot. That's it.

A single stone thrower hit is likely to kill 13*0,5 = ~8 Marauders. In the first turn.

If I'd still play WoC, I'd somehow use them for conversions or sth. But even Forsaken are so expensive :/

And if I were playing warriors of chaos, I'd be thrilled that my opponents show up with bows, or that they were firing stone throwers at my marauders.
Marauders would be deployed in a horde, so only 3 deep, max of 12 hits, ~6 dead.

More than likely, you'd be forced to shoot my fast cav before it tore those bows apart.

No pun intended but I read there is a lot of "wine" in this thread -imho.

I´ve started WHF in the 5th edition and since then Chaos was one if not the toughest army ever - at least for my O&G army. Things changed a lot since 5th but Chaos is still a very fearsome army. Marauders too expensive? Hmm, 4points more than my poor Orc Boy and with a lot more punch so to say.
Plus all those low strengths shooting attacks are something a lot of armies have to "fear" - it´s a common danger for my army.
The new Chaos book brought a lot of changes and a couple new units, might be time to rethink some stuff like not having one of the best core infantry anymore? Ok, CW´s are still better than most elite units of other armies but Marauders were just over top. Again, my boyz come at 4points less than Marauders, with low Ini, low LS, low armor and dont have the option to get flails. I dont say my footsluggaz are bad but calling marauders overpriced makes me cry.

Boss, Raglun´z mob ´az redda trouserz dan uz!
Too bad, da mob got stinky about ...

Chaus Marauders are 1 point more expensive than Orc Boyz with light armor and come at -1S (1st round), -1T but +2I and +1WS.

I can understand people not knowing the other army books, but I'd appreciate you knowing your own.

In the previous book, the only real drawback to Marauders was terrain getting in the way of your huge and super-efficient block.

Maybe they cost too much now, maybe not. But at least GW tried to fix a huge problem.

I mean, can anyone even try to mention a model that is more efficient than what a Khornate Marauder once was? I'd save Skavenslaves are the closest, but still fall behind.

Yes, agree with your point - I'd even say that every reasonable player considered them to be too cheap. 10 pts, however, is too much. 'least it shows that GW sees blatant imbalances :/

They also don't come with Animosity either.

...and let's not forget they lost Will of Chaos too.

And the champ gained eye of the gods, and marauders have way better options than orcs.
I'd love if rank and file orcs could get flails or great weapons.
