What if you could like think up a good feature (environmental design, alchemy) that I haven't mentioned of a game that is critically acclaimed instead resulting to personal attacks.

Every time I hear "in my opinion" or "just my opinion" makes me want to strangle a puppy. People use their opinions as a shield that other poeple can't critisize and that is bs.
If you can't defend or won't defend your opinion then that "opinion" is bs. Stop trying to tip-toe and defend what you believe in. |

Started replaying Skyrim recently also, seems to be a habit when i start reading a Joe Abecrombie book.
Currently got 3 characters on the go, doing the typical warrior, Mage and rogue playthroughs. my fav quest so far is probably "a night to remember" gota love a bit of Hangover: Skyrim.
I wish some of the skyrim PC mods could find their way to the consoles there are some truly epic mods.

For me, there are two keys to an enjoyable replay of Skyrim: (1) avoid smithing and (2) roleplaying a character concept.

Heavily-modded Skyrim is a level of glory console gamers can only dream of. And even most PC games can only wish they could achieve such heights.
Bethesda makes the framework and releases the dev tools, freely, and the mod community responds with such devotion and love it's stunning. Truly one of the last bastions of excellence in computer gaming.
These guys make masterpieces, and the mod community makes it better.

Yeah, that hypothermia mod is one of the cornerstones of my current playthrough. I'm wandering the woods as a Nord hunter, killing the occasional bandit when they get in my way and helping out in my adopted home town of Morthal - the poor, kinda swampy vibe fits my dude. It's very immersive to have to stop and build a fire to dry your clothes out and avoid freezing after accidentally falling in a lake or river. And wandering around at night in a blizzard.... that's a bad idea.

I liked the hunger/thirst mods, made it more realistic. Like eating crappy food makes you sick, or overeating makes you sluggish and lethargic. Hardcore to be sure, but then again it's a mod you choose, so no reason to complain, don't install it if you don't like it.

I didn't like it that much either.. :\
I made one character, got every single achievement on one character and decided that the game has no form of depth.
Choices have zero impact, story is boring. Most side quests are just rince and repeat stuff. No memorable characters, at all. HORRIBLE combat. Bugs out of the wazoo.
Oh, and the most broken crafting system I have ever touched.
It was ok but not something delivered to us by the gods.

I dove back in to Skyrim for Solstheim. After playing it again, only the giant Morrowind nostalgia boner kept me engaged.
No character depth (no classes, everybody can be great at everything), repetitive combat (hurr durr, moar health = harder), Dragons are a chore (cunning ancient race that has mastered Thu'um = carbon copy boss battles) and just an overall shallow game. I love the lore, love the world, but the game just doesn't engage me.
Skyrim is better than Oblivion, but that's not much of an accomplishment. Hopefully Beth can stop dumbing it down for Elswyr (please).

None of the TES games or Fallout 3 had particularly good combat in comparison to other games. Especially comparing FA3 to ME2/ME3...talk about a massive difference...
Skyrim's melee and casting system was for me significantly more enjoyable than the combat experience in any previous Bethesda RPG. I don't particularly care about the difficulty of the game as I don't play any video games for the "challenge." I play them for fun and I play Bethesda games for the story and sandbox role play experience.
Skyrim is still a notch below Morrowind simply because Morrowind's main questline and several side questlines were excellent and because it has the more unique and beautifully rendered setting of any RPG I've played...and I've played just about every western RPG over the last 15 years that matters.
Despite having an inferior story and setting in comparison to Morrowind, Skyrim was a massive improvement over Oblivion in every way.

I've played so many times so many different characters, I've yet to play as Khajit or redguard. It's the only game (aside from Warhammer) I can play for hours and lose track of time. My favorite type of character is doing like a big strong ugly Orc and making him a sneak thief type of guy.

I have to say, I will only play Skyrim when heavily modded. I find Frostfall (camping, hypothermia), Imp's needs (starvation, hydration), and Duke Patrick's (melee overhaul) mods to be a must have. I also have about 60 or so others. I do enjoy the game but there definitely are some short falling with the game, mainly abuse of quest markers that kills the overall experience for me. I think the three mods I mentioned help alleviate that a bit, there is also an incomplete mod that adds directions to quest descriptions so you can turn the markers off, but it does not cover all the content yet.
They have made leaps and bounds as far as melee goes with the ES series though, Duke Patrick's mod really capitalizes on it. The reverse happened for magic unfortunately... I want my spell making and variety back
I just started playing again last week and have had a blast camping and surviving in the wild and all that.

I started my second character when the Dawnguard DLC came out. After power leveling my first char and getting bored, I wanted to actually RP, so for my second run through I made an old vagrant looking Nord whose focus would be on conjuration. The idea was to make a bastard of a necromancer who would eventually join the Vampires. Which he was, and he did. So much more fun when I spent the extra energy to roleplay a cool character.

I just got it. Only did the first quest and then went back to Skyrim to empty my inventory, pick up a follower, and wipe out the last of minor quests I had open still.
Looks promising though, it's been months since I played, got bored with Dawnguard and never finished that, so good on Bethesda for bringing me back into the fold.

Sadly I havn't been able to re-play Skyrim much. I accidently deleted all my mods downloaded via steam so some of the mods I consider "core" to my game are not installed.
However once I get them all back(after getting internet again) or finding them on TESNexus then I can go back to Skyrim.
I have/tried to run the typical Warrior/Thief characters. I seem to have trouble playing as a Mage though, never really like mages tbh.
EDIT: So far I also like the DLCs, only have Hearthfire and Dawnguard. Havn't completed either that I remember so it's something to do I guess.

If you haven't tried it, for a more unconventional mage character try out Psikotics Necromancy mod, or one of the other ones that enhances the conjuration tree.
And you definitely need the Winterhold College Improved if you are basing yourself out of there. Creates another 'floor' full of vendors and stuff.
