Subject: Juggernaut IC + bikes = run or flat out?

Unhealthy Competition With Other Legions

I've been running a CSM Khorne Lord on a Juggernaut attached to 3 CSM bikers. My local gamers talked it over & we decided that because the Lord can only run & the bikers can turboboost that the combination of the two when attached would mean I roll to see the run distance & only move that far, but still get the cover bonus from turboboosting.
This weekend at a tournament I explained my interpretation of the rules to an opponent & he was cool about it, but asked if we could check with a judge which was reasonable ( I mess up rules all the time like getting turboboosting mixed up with moving flat out.) The judge suprised us both by saying that the bikers can move the full turboboost distance, while the Lord had to roll to run, but the unit would need to stay within coherency.
Thoughts?

Agree with the Judge. Remember, however, only the bikes get the cover save.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.
Orks always ride in single file to hide their strength and numbers.

The judge made a good call on this one, as long as you maintain coherency I would allow it.

Judge is right. The old rule of moving as fast as the slowest model doesn't exist anymore.

Except for assualting? Say you have harliequins attached to Eldrad. Harliequins ignore DT so when charging through area terrain, they would normally roll 2D6 but if Eldrad is attached and is in DT, then the unit would roll 3D6 and remove the highest (with the option of rerolling any of the dice since the entire unit has Fleet).
Also if a non-JI or non-JB model joins a JI or JB unit, I don't belive that Jet Infantry and Eldar Jet Bikes can move 2D6 during the assualt phase if not assaulting.

I thought the rules for run, however, required the UNIT to run. Not all the unit CAN run

I think its simply because Harly's have Movement through cover rule and Eldrad don't.
Might be wrong though, but while a good bunch of rules still works even if not all the models of the units have it, there is still some rules that require the whole unit to have the rule.
But here in the bikes case, be it Bikes or cavalry they have the exact same rules, excepte for turboboosting and +1T, but their movement and assault rules are the same.
So bikes+cavalry are a special case.

Pages 14 and 63 cover the relevant stuff here. Its not saying one way or the other, but I see a reasonable reading of page 63 alluding to the fact that the IC just moves as he would and must keep coherency even if he can't run. I agree with the judge on this one... its not RAW per se, but I don't see not allowing the run as RAW either. $.02
