It certainly narrows her job opportunities massively. But folks certainly do find some jobs, even with massive tattoos or extensive facial scarring.

While it's certainly not a choice I'd make, it's her life and her body and it's certainly not an absolute barrier to a happy and fulfilling life.

Or, to put it in terms which can perhaps resonate in Texas as well as in NH: Hey, freedom.

Face tats are a turn off for me.

face, bathing suit areas are no-nos for me.

I once saw a girl get a tat on.. in? her eliminatory area. Would that be in or on?

couldn't go for that either.

Lol, I hope she tattooed little teeth in that area.

She's successful thanks to Miami/LA Ink - TLC likes to pump a lot of cash into their reality shows. Otherwise she'd be just another tattoo artist.

Don't know if Treeman has a wife, but beauty is subjective so I guess I can't really (well I can and already have but they clearly value different things than me) dis someone for what they find attractive.

Well I'm glad you view beauty so subjectively.

"Judge not lest ye be judged" amirite?

I love how everyone is so quick to jump on the wagon that this girl is mentally ill. Is it possible, just maybe, that your standards of living are different from someone about whom you know nothing about besides an internet article? Would you say the Thai tribe with women who elongate their necks, or the cultures that practice lip disks, or the Ainu that blackened their teeth, or any one of the myriad viewpoints of beauty outside of middle class, white, suburban Western culture are "crazy"? There's a whole big world out there besides worrying about getting a 9-5, popping out kids, and white picket fences. As crazy as it sounds, some people can be happy outside of what you consider "a normal life"

So sorry for having an opinion. I'll keep them to myself next time. Said the internet.
You sound a lil bitter, got a face tattoo, long neck and lip plate? It's cool we were all teenagers once.

Sure, but jobs in entertainment or media, particularly in tattoo/alternative culture-related areas are some of the top career possibilities for these folks. Given that regular tattoos are so commonplace now, facial tattoos still maintain some taboo and "badass" value, and help give a person credibility as being committed to the subculture.

Sure, but the two are certainly comparable when assessing a given person's chances of landing a spouse. A person with an extensively disfiguring and crippling skin disease can't really be said to be inherently more attractive than a person with extensive tattoos. Except in a strictly personal, subjective sense.

I don't think it's reasonable to conclude that all people with extensive and obvious tattooing loathe themselves, either. Though perhaps that's not what you meant. There is a rather long history of people doing things like this, in various cultures.
