As for the Ad Mech Thallax, lovelovelovelovelove. My only objection, and it's a small one, is that the dome head (which I presume is supposed to be some kind of glass bubble) makes them look too much like Eldar wraithguard.
I actualy thought the same thing. Not that it's terribly bad, because wraithguard are great looking models.
I think I'm in the bag for 2 thallaxii cohorts and 1 recon squad.
Here's the big question: do the thallaxii only come with the lightning guns? Because I really want to do some of the options..

Those boarding marines are incredible and the Thallax even more so. Not bothered about the recon guys as I have already converted a squad of them but my "want" list on FW is growing by the week!

Well here's a kick in the dick:
I emailed FW my Adepticon order about 15 minute ago. The advertisment on the Adepticon website says "have you email postmarked by the 28th of March," which is today.
Did that, didn't I'd have any problems.
But no.
Apparently you had to have them in by end of business in the UK on the 28th of March (which isn't stated anywhere on the Adepticon page) because the FW folks are all off work tomorrow. I learned all this in an email reply from an actual person, too, so someone is responding to emails. Can't believe it.
Pretty displeased.

The reason for the March 28th, cut-off for AdeptICon is they have to get the inventory to the show. It takes a bit of time to get to orders sorted and to Chicago.
Forgeworld does preview items ahead of release. A practice I am sure we like to continue to encourage.
The items from the last 2 newsletters are not available to dispense until April 5th, which is after the AdeptiCon cut-off date. Whether they will be available and in stock in time to make the shipment for the AdeptiCon inventory is unknown.
I want some Thallax, Necron RoB, and Necron Flyers as much as anyone but I can understand them not wanting to take orders on items they don’t know timing and availability on.
That said it is still possible that some kits show up in limited numbers at the show.
Cincy, did you email them your order or try to call it in after noon?

Oh, I get the reasoning, I just think they need to make it clear on the advertisement is all. I sent them an email today, as I was collecting orders from our group. I sent it around 2:15 EDT, and I realize thats after business hours close in the UK, but it didn't say that was a necessity, just that they needed to be in by the 28th. I'm just irritated because someone was emailing me back, that was in the office. Further, I had no idea that Good Friday was an "official holiday" in the UK. It's not a bank or Fed holiday in the US....
Anyways, they're just going to have to pay to ship the stuff to me now. I don't mind that a ton, but it's still irritating, especially since the last product I did that with came damaged, I couldn't exchange it straight away, and they didn't send the part when I called them.
Sigh.....

Those recon guys...I think I found the basis for my Alpha Legionaires
As for the Thallax. They almost look too "futuristic" for the Imperium. They look like some kind of Tau or Necron invention. The head is the biggest problem with it, the body itself is fine.

Admech stuff's lovely - will get. I like the recon marines too but don't know if I can justify a third unit of scouts in my Relictors.
The Breacher Squad looks too similar to the already-available boarding marines, which I already own, so I'll pass on those.
The price drop on the bikes is a PITA, as I vowed to myself not to buy them at the old price point. the new one, however ...

Aye, Good Friday and Easter Monday are both bank holidays over here.
Just so people are aware, the only time from now you'll be able to get pre-orders in for the Open Day on the 7th is the morning of the 2nd, following a call to them this afternoon to check. Unsurprisingly, you won't be able to pre-order the show models.

I think they'd make great Inquisitors, HBMC.
I think a large part of the disconnect from the Mechanicus aesthetic is that reading the fluff on the Thallax (Disclaimer: I do not have the Horus Heresy book from FW) it seems to imply that the Thallax are looked at by the Mechanicus at large as something that goes beyond the tenants of the Machine Cult.
I kind of wonder if they're already starting to aim for things that could be labeled "Dark Adeptus" later on.

I think you answered your own complaint. These are the first Mechanicum units to be designed, where they were recovering STCs like candy and pushing the boundaries of science and engineering. Of course they are not going to look the same as the Adeptus Mechanicus, which like the Imperium, is far more conservative and reactionary in their philosophy, clinging more tightly to their pseudo-religious tenets.
Actually, even now, those thallax are basically what the Iron Hands aspire to become.

Actually, I can kind of see what he is saying.
The "Mechanicum" and "Adeptus Mechanicus" might be the same thing, but the "Mechanicum" at the time of the Great Crusade/Horus Heresy was not really the same organization that we see with the "Adeptus Mechanicus" that we're so familiar with from the current timeframe.
I might be reading far too much into this, but that's how I'm kind of looking at this. What's more, the Thallax are definitely an interesting concept to work with. They are, from my rather limited understanding, a shell containing a brain and the major organ/nervous systems within the Lorica.
They probably could have just left off the "head" and gone with a Dreadnought looking approach but I like the 'faceless soldier' motif.

I really like their design, i'm hoping we see more Ad-Mech from FW relatively soon. All the Space Marine variants are cool and all, but something new and fresh would be welcome.

Uhh... Mechanicum = Adeptus Mechanicus. You're making a distinction that isn't there.
Mechanicum = 30K, prior to civil war with Dark Mechanicum and reorganization under Fabricator-General Kane.
Adeptus Mechanicus = 40K era.
The Admech grew out of the Mechanicum, but is far different, just like the Imperium of Mankind is far different in the "present" era than pre-couch potato Emperor era. If the various styles of pre-heresy and heresy Imperial equipment can look quite different from "modern" tech, why not Mars-tech?
