If you want to do the deal send the $80 through paypal, then have him send the models, then send your models. If he doesn't make with the goods you can file a paypal claim and get your money back.
If you send him your models first, he'll probably just keep them and say they never arrived.
The deal seems too good(he wants some 'crappy' DV chaos models for his forgeworld ones!?  ) and the guy probably has no intention of sending the figures after he gets yours. He could also have stolen them and wants to get rid of them.

No.
Do NOT send money up front. "Too good to be true" usually is. PayPal can be difficult to get your money back from on a GOOD day.
Don't give him a cent up front, even money "to pay for shipping."

Yeah.. IF you can get him to send the models first, with tracking, that would be your ideal situation.
The other chap.. is he a "reputable" guy? Is the trade starting here on Dakka?
Of course, in an ideal world, he is in the same location as you and can meet locally to swap.

If he is only 3hours away it might be worth the trip. so much better and is an absolute insurance (though i suppose he could always say no deal once you get there  better plan some other things to do while your there)

Can y no drive because you're too young? If that's the case, I'd really lay off this trade if you have no way to protect yourself. If you're old enough and have buddies that drive, bribe one with dinner gas money and do this face to face.
