Subject: Question about an IG Ragnarok tank?

I'm in the process of "making" one or two of these, and I'm curious about the weapons on the front.
I'm using an older Leman Russ kit, and will have swappable hull weapon weapons. But those pictured in
the above pic look kind of like Sponson weapons mounted above the track guards? Are they important to
include, or can I skip them? Basically I'm just making it to use as a different looking Russ.
I appreciate any input or thoughts!

Well, keep in mind that the Ragnarok is a very different tank layout to the Russ. It's bigger for one. It's really more akin to a stretched set of chimera track housings with a massive turret atop.
I mean, there is no real "wrong" way to modify a Russ tbh in terms of aesthetics (at least in my opinion that is), however, if you're going to intentionally make a Raganarok, then I'd stick pretty close to the design. Just my .02.

Ragnaroks are more akin to a KV with the big turret, where as a Russ is based on an mid model french tank from the intrawar years.

Well, to be honest, I'm using this turret:
http://www.anarchymodels.co.uk/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage-ask.tpl&product_id=85&category_id=1&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=1
And was going to use a widened out Russ hull.
I could do something similar with a Chimera hull I guess.
I just feel, other than Flinty, I don't like the way alot of the Chimera/Russ hybrid look.
What Codex are the Ragnarok in?

They aren't in a codex. They were a krieg epic scale tank that someone decided to make into a 40k scale version. In game terms, they function AS a leman russ (with the same weapon options. Their sponsons are just mounted on top of the tracks, not inside the track units), it's just they are an older, less advanced, and more prone to explode tank. So perfect for the krieg.

Actually I believe the Ragnarök is younger, and not approved by the Ad Mech
You might be confusing it with the Malcador if you're talking about Old Tanks

No, the ragnarok WAS an epic scale tank for the guard krieg forces (long before krieg got a FW 40k resin army). Baran Siegemasters first used it. This picture in lexicanium is of the epic scaled version.
They were created when the local forces realised they didn't need a tank that was fast, they just needed something that wouldn't fall into trenches.

I'm talking about fluffwise older, I am well aware of Epic Fluffwise they were made because Krieg could not get enough Leman Russes. And then everyone else bought/adopted it from them (including the Siege Masters)
