Hi All,

I read somewhere(forgot where already) that there were rogue traders who employ Orkz as part of their crew. Just wanted to confirm if that was true...or even possible for an ork to be away from their clan and under the command of a human.

Your honor is your life, let non dispute it!

If the human can krump 'eadz and lets the ork do so too, what's to complain about? The Bloodaxe Clan is actually famous for their work as mercenaries to the point that other clans think they've gone a bit too 'ooman. They actually use camouflage and real tactics at times.

The human crew of the Rogue Trader might have some morale problems though, being told to work with the ork instead of killing it as is proper.

Yes it is possible, the blood axe clan has done it before as well as some ork pirates. Usually it goes like this. Orks get hired for muscle, board ship, protect it, cargo goes off, person pays them whatever, Orks revolt, take over the ship if they win, orks have a new ship! Now this doesn't always happen but it is the way it usually goes if orks follow humans.

orkz are da best!!!

There's a huge backstory and fluff for rogue Trader orks.

Usually they can come from a variety of sources, Freeboota's are a major one, looters looking for more loot sign up from time to time, blood axes work as mercenaries for hire.

Depending on Freeboota clan affilitation, they can provide a large number of Orky skills from standard grunt work, to elite fighting, to Mekwork, to even Mad Docs.

I'd seriously doubt a Rogue Trader would be daft enough to employ a group of orks on his own ship as crew, it's like sharing a boat with a tiger if you're not a small Indian boy engaged on a metaphorical quest...

I could see hiring local orks to perform some tasks or keeping an escort vessel full of them as one of the floatilla if you're in command of a nice big cruiser or something and ensure one of your gunnery officers keeps a spare lance trained on them quietly...

I could also see a single ork as perhaps a bodyguard or enforcer (scary boson) and I could well envision an ork serving a radical xenos inquisitor.

The Rogue Trader RPG introduced rules to play as pretty much every classic ork type. Everything from basic shootas to mad docs and weird boyz. Obviously you have teams of crewmen taking care of (burning) all the spores and snotlings that show up, but as long as you keep a freeboota supplied with big guns and something to fight, he'll be pretty loyal.

I actually just meant 1-2 orkz based on what i read not a whole clan or bunch of them in one rogue traders ship.

Right but even one ork will eventually start shedding if he's kept on the ship long enough.

I read the last part as "ork serving as a radical xenos inquisitor"

Maybe the ork had its body made into a servitor that be pretty sick, cybernetic ork with big shootas and can't feel any pain. It could have speakers that yell "WAAAAG" in a monotone robotic way.

Rogue Traders might be influential... but not that influential.

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised.

Granted that the Ork is not a Blood Axe, which is at one point at least turn on the crew just for kicks, which is what most Ork Freebootaz come from. Not saying it is possible but yeah keep up the supply of Dakka, something to krump and that and he stays on your side I would think for a good while.

How could a Rogue Trader have an ork as a body guard?

Though our tanks and artillery are mighty, it is the vast ranks of Imperial Guardsmen that shall trample the enemy to dust - let them come.

I think it'd be easier for a rogue trader to pay off a bunch of orks with guns to fight someone, somewhere. Keeping one as staff though would likely just get him killed by Inquisitors.
