I was thinking about a dirty combo to ally in a 50 guard blob to a SM force.
A space marine libby or a captain gives ATSKNF to the whole squad.

What bothers me is if I should join in a Commisar or not.
What happends if I want to use the combat tactic and run away?
Will the commisar execute the space marine ally?

It would be fun to see a little Commisar executing an Ultramarine Hero like Calgar because he uses his combat tactic.

We love what we love. Reason does not enter into it. In many ways, unwise love is the truest love. Anyone can love a thing because. That's as easy as putting a penny in your pocket. But to love something despite. To know the flaws and love them too. That is rare and pure and perfect.

Read the IG FAQ. It's been Errata'd that Commissars don't shoot allied ICs.

They don't get Combat tactics as it's not something that passes on to the group.

I would like to point out, I did manage to get Yarrik summarily executed. That was hilarious.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Yarrick's a commissar himself. Commissars aren't supposed to shoot each other.

Yarrick is a commissar and fearless, commissars don't shoot commissars

Funny thing about that. It follows a series of unlikely dice rolls.
My Warlord trait was the one that forces enemy units to use lowest Leadership for Morale. My Hive Tyrant had Terrify.
Yarrick was running around with a Commissar in a 50-man blob squad. I succesfully casted Terrify. Yarrick and his unit loses Fearless. They take their Morale test on 7 and fail. Now the fun part...
Summary Execution states that a Commissar will not execute a Commissar of either rank. Compared to "It's For Your Own Good" which says Commissar of any rank. Since Yarrick is not a Commissar of either rank, he was executed.

That style of illogic is slapped down in the FAQ's whenever it comes up. For example:

Q: Tyranid Special Characters. Are Tyranid Special Characters
considered to be special versions of the standard creatures of their type
for the purposes of using psychic powers, biomorphs and special rules?
For example, is the Swarmlord considered to be a Hive Tyrant for the
purposes of using Hive Tyrant psychic powers? Similarly, is
Deathleaper considered to be a Lictor for the purposes of Chameleonic
Skin and Pheromone Trail, is the Doom of Malan’tai considered to be a
Zoanthrope for the purposes of Warp Field, is Old One Eye considered
to be Carnifex for the purposes of Living Battering Ram and are
Ymgarl Genestealers considered to be Genestealers for the purposes of
Brood Telepathy? (p56-61)
A. Yes in all cases.

There's only two ranks of commisar. Commisar Lord and Commisar. If he wasn't of either rank then he wouldn't be a Commisar.

He would have to be one or the other, as he couldn't be both or neither.

Or he falls in a third group of Commissar which is implied by the wording of "It's for Your Own Good". In 5th edition (when the codex was written) there was no danger of Yarrick's unit failing a Morale check. 6th edition introduced a psychic power that can take away the Fear special rule. Do I think that the intent is that Yarrick is not a Commissar of either rank? No. However I do think the RAW supports my stance.

Strict RAW you're of course right. But RAI is also plainly obvious with Yarrick being a commissar. The "either rank" portion of rule is just artifact of there being only commissars of two ranks in the non-SC portion of codex.

Which is why we had a roll-off. I wasn't going to actually enforce it, but he felt a roll-off would be fair. SO I said 1-5 Yarrick lives. He rolled a 6.
