The abhuman/xeno/daemon argument works if the Dark Angels themselves don't know what, exactly, the Watchers are. Is it ever stated that even the Dark Angels know?

We know from the HH books that neither Luther nor the Lion had any clue who they were. We have angels in 40k, why not some other helpful warp entity that's good? For their to be a primordial annihilator there must also be a primordial creator/protector. Seems to me that as Khorne or Nurgle is to the annihilator, the Emperor would be to the protector. So their servants of good, counter balance to daemons.

Maybe Dark Angels arethe only chapter that goes in for having kids. Watchers are the children, kind of like squires and pageboys.

note: if you look at their model closely you can see that their feet are the same as Astartes power armor ones. Can there be some form of miniature power armor that protect these guys from harm on the battlefield while they are rushing to aid Dark Angels?

Well they are mentioned in Fallen Angels. They are warp based life-forms that don't like chaos. However they can't do much about it. So they are Jawas.

That's my read, there's nothing directly saying that who/what Zahariel encounters are the Watchers, but the descriptions are identical so that's not too much of a stretch
