Hi all,

Here is my first ever painted 'character' model. Hope you like. Comments and critique most welcome.

And my first attempt at magnetizing a model. It's pretty rough but it turned out okay. I'll need to brush up on my GS skills to start filling gaps and stuff because I've never done that before.

Not bad. The shadows on the robe are a bit sharp, but otherwise it's a solid paint job.

The model looks good.

So far as magnetizing, I don't magnetize at the wrist - there's just not enough real estate there to drop a 1/8" magnet, and the 1/16th" magnets don't have enough pull. A better way to do it is thusly: do the whole arm at the shoulder join (if it's a terminator, or scout, this is perfect) or, if you can't do the whole arm - it's a character with sculpted detail, ,it's got a dynamic pose, whatever - don't magnetize at all. Instead, cut where you did, but insert a thick pin that's about 4mm long into the hand, and drill the socket into the forearm. If the normal pins you use are the kind from jewelry hatpins and such, go up a size, like a standard paperclip.

The post method should work for tons of swapping about, and if it ever gets too loose, all you need to to is put a speck of greenstuff into the socket and then re-drill it.

Did you use Picassa's 'I'm feeling lucky' on the pictures of the painted model?

The contrast is insane.

I am currently taking commissions.

lol not sure what Picassa is! If you mean the robe then yeah, I know it's a bit sharp. Aside from the robe on my bike sergeant it's pretty much the first one I've ever done and I didn't want to mess with it too much incase I made it look really bad!

Your model has an odd....vibrancy to the colors. especially the red and white. What colors did you use for those if you don't mind me asking.

as for your first character model. Awesome Work! good highlighting, I think your big focus should be working on faces, since its the only stand out flaw.

Thanks for your comments and for everyone elses.

The weapons are Mephiston Red. The whites on the robes were Zandri Dust followed by a wash of Agrax and then highlighted with Screaming Skull working up to White Scar.
