Hi,
Which edition had the cardboard cutout deff dread in it?
I just bought this old school starter set at a garage sale and it had a ton of space orks and goblins then it had red blue and yellow space marines.
Anyone know if these things are worth much?

2nd edition. The rules from the box would be of interest to some people.

Dead right. That box also contained my revered Codex Imperialis. Oh, fond memories... Automatically Appended Next Post: Btw... Red, blue and yellow marines? Sounds like Space Crusade to me. The cardboard dred was from 2nd ed, that's for sure, but the models you got might be from different sources...
Question: Do those marines have bayonets attached to their boltguns?

2nd ed is correct. I recently aquired the orks from one of these sets from a friend who's been collecting for a long time. One of those dreds came with it. The only problem with it being fielded is that the dred comes with a lascannon, something no longer fieldable with orks anymore. also the grots all have lasguns.
The models do show their age as they are essentially fantasy orks with pistols.

Just to be sure, take a look at this, the 2nd edition boxed set in its entirety:

And while I can't find a picture of the Space Crusade box clear enough, here's a picture of its Marines:

They did all have boltguns to go in those slots in their waist, but it looks like they've sadly been snapped off in that example.
...
Side question - hopefully I'm not hijacking the thread with this. I seem to remember 2nd edition coming with the net of a bunker that you could glue up into a model that would allow you to put 4 or 5 models on the roof. Was this in White Dwarf or the Piscina campaign instead?
(scratch that, I found it - http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y137/CoveringFire/Miniatures/DSC_0952.jpg - it WAS White Dwarf after all. See young'uns, this is what we USED to get that you're missing!)

Yeah, 2nd ed did come with cardboard terrain, but it was just some ruined wall sections. Automatically Appended Next Post: Paitryn wrote:The only problem with it being fielded is that the dred comes with a lascannon, something no longer fieldable with orks anymore.
Well, that and the fact that it's a cardboard cut-out intended to flesh out a couple of the starter set scenarios, rather than a model...
also the grots all have lasguns.
They had autoguns, not lasguns.
The models do show their age as they are essentially fantasy orks with pistols.
As opposed to now...?
