Hey guys,

since Goblins have the option to add a third wolf to the chariot for a few points, does the upgrade affect the model in any way?

Do you keep the normal model on the chariot base and maybe add a third wolf on the base for fluff reasons or do you have to add another wolf on a cavalry base next to the chariot base (don't think so, but...).

Thanks in advance!

Best regards,

Sigvatr

It's been an option forever.
It's been a bad option forever.

I don't know a reason why you'd want the 3rd wolf, and as such have never seen anyone take it.

5 points for another S3 attack - idk, I felt like adding as much stuff as possible as it's only going for 1 turn (max) anyway. Are 5 pts for another bow (goblin) considered to be bad too?

The goblin gives you another bow and another spear. It's a lot easier to stick an extra goblin on than it is to squeeze in a 3rd wolf.

Well if you really want to make one, your best bet is to try and go off of Grom's model, since it already has the three wolves.

Well, sticking a 3rd one is no problem as all 4 chariots of mine are scratch-built and I got enough space to slap a 3rd one on it between the two other ones, but...yeah...on second thought, 5 points for a goblin profile seems inefficient ;D

In an attempt to actually answer the question asked. i would say if you are paying the points there is no requirement in friendly games. Tournament scenes would probably insist on WYSIWYG. in which case the 3rd modelled wolf would be required.

hope this helps

All anyone wants in the world is to be accepted. Except me, i don't give a S%@t.

To further that, I would support the idea of a 3rd wolf on the normal base, if possible, rather than an extra cavalry base. There's nothing to support that in the rules, and has a not-insignificant impact on the unit's performance.

The goblin gives you a bow and a spear, but the wolf is WS3 and I3? That's a bit of a stretch, but it might--maybe--be worthwhile, on occasion.
I've run units of 2-3 "tricked out" chariots, at 60pts each. Get them in the flank for Sneaky Stabbin', or combat in general for Blessing of the Spider God. Extra attacks with those bonuses start to approach cost-effectiveness.
