Just wondering, has anyone had a look at rotarycraft? looks cool, if maybe a bit confusing (though it uses real life science so I should be able to figure it out)

I have a test setup at about 300,-50 where i tried out several different RotaryCraft engines and machines such as a 4 MW hydrokinetic power station to power the RotaryCraft ore extraction process (it can work with less power but will need manual control of the four different steps in that case). So far it's been a fun experience. It does use a lot of iron though and stuff tends to explode violently or at least get damaged beyond repair if it's not tended properly.

Feel free to have a look.

Ok, cool. I'll make sure I have a look when I get the chanc.
But boy does this mod require a lot of iron...

Yeah, but Minx also mentioned that the gear can quintuple ore outputs too.

I knew that, though to get to that point requires a lot of iron

Also, recently I've been wTching some videos by Ako the Builder on YouTube (To3cutta), he has one helpful beginner tips where he explains how some of the stuff works and some helpful builds. In his latest one he built an autospawner mod farm that runs of exp (apparently sewers convert exp into mob essence $

To jump start the ore processing (or any of the interesting machines) you can make use of industrial coils that can be charged for an arbitrarily long time with any engine and afterwards set to output a specific torque and angular velocity(*). That's how i powered a bedrock breaker and boring machine in the beginning before switching to two AC electric engines that soon will be replaced by my upgraded and self-sustaining hydro power station.

Oh, and if you want to try out the ReactorCraft extension, be wary of exploding reactors and do think about proper shielding and nuclear waste removal/storage. My first attempt (single player) turned a huge area into a wasteland
The floating steam and the huge turbines cause quite a bit of lag as well.

(*) In the most recent version of RotaryCraft there's a limit on the amount of stored energy per coil (if you exceed that limit the coil "explodes"!) and the maximum output power; but that version is not part of our version of the monster mod pack (yet).

Damn ,that was annoying...

when I relogged about 10 min ago a think I lag glitched into a wall and died. (at least, I died from suffocation by a wall and I wasn't by under gravel/sand/quicksand)

is it possible to get an inventory reset/stuff returned, Dark?

I was there, he did suffocate in a wall as soon as logging.

After having suffered countless disconnects since my connection to the server has deteriorated somewhat in the last two days i found that the AC electric engines(*) from the RotaryCraft mod produce quite a lot of traffic to and from the server. After removing most of them i can finally play in most areas of my base again
The item vacuum and harvest/replant-fans of the same mod seem to cause similar issues. Unfortunately i cannot exchange them for anything else at the moment.

(*) they can sense the magnetic flux density of other objects (even in your backpack) in a volume around them; perhaps one of the reasons why they cause lag

This is very useful information, good to know. Thanks for taking the time to find and report source of the problem, it's much appreciated!

So what do you guys all use for automatic crafting? The buildcraft autotable seems underwhelming.

As a single block solution, the Cyclic Assembler is good, but needs power. For more complex stuff Applied Energistics or Logistics Pipes.

Ramos and I were talking, and in order to do bees, a certain variety will only breed in a named "Ocean" biome. It seems that all of the water biomes take on other names, such as forest or other land names. Is this an issue with biomes a plenty? or something else I wonder? Also, I could explore beyond the map, but that causes chunk generation. I created a portal to a mega volcano almost 6000 blocks from spawn, are there any ramifications to my exploring and generating chunks that way? I know it causes lag when others are online, but what about exploration when I am the only one on the server?

Have you gone far enough into the water? I know the edges are often folded into the biomes next to them- that's a vanilla thing, I think.

GENERATION 8: The first time you see this, copy and paste it into your sig and add 1 to the number after generation. Consider it a social experiment.

Yeah, it seems the whole bodies of water are named land biomes, even in the middle of them. I've found some significant bodies of water, but F3 never shows ocean. I just don't want to crash the server or anything by generating too many chunks. I'm not sure if that's a possibility or not.

Either someone has tampered with my ME condenser or for some reason it's been reset from 60k to 27k when it should have been increasing overnight.

It appears to be ATG that is causing "Oceans" to simply be regular biomes but flooded. I've nothing against people exploring while others aren't online (because then they're only causing lag for themselves). However, I'm slightly less keen on thousands of chunks being generated just in the hopes of finding an elusive ocean.

So what I think I will do is make an Ocean mystcraft age. This should allow for ocean bees and the oysters people keep asking after. I think in Unleashed there were also no nether bees, because Biomes o Plenty changed all the nether biomes to things that weren't hell. I'm not sure if this is still the case, but a single mixed ocean - hell age sounds like it could be interesting (or a terrible mess). Let's see what happens

I'm not familiar enough with this device to know what's happened just yet, but I'll take a look at that afterwards.

Dark, Biomes o' Plenty still changes the nether into other biomes but I have found several nether bee hives. Bees/BoP must have changed something for it to work.
So we only really need a ocean age.

Theyre missing one species in particular that only appears in Hell biomes. I think its the Infernals... THough its been a while since Ive done bees.

Would super appreciate an ocean age, dark. even more than the hell age!

The new map looks awesome Dark!

The condenser should only reset singularity progress with weird server shenanigans or if someone removed the cell and put it back in again, all I effectively lost 5000 stacks of cobblestone so it's not really replaceable.

That's awesome Dark! Thanks! Not thousands, just mainly east of spawn to the mega volcano were generated. I didn't touch your condenser thingy Corpse.
